rossislider Report post Posted April 13, 2015 I registered to take my son up the the White Mountain camp. It sounds like a great experience for both of us as I have never turkey hunted either. Due to work, we won't be able to get up there till late Thursday evening. Will that affect his ability to get a mentor to help? Is it a first come first serve thing with mentors? When I registered him a few weeks ago I offered to help with any I can in camp, but didn't hear anything back about that. Should I speak with someone about helping? Thanks

Thanks All hunters will be taken out by a mentor, even if they have a few hunters. It's nice of you to offer to help in camp. You'll have to be with your son out in the field, but while in camp I'm sure your offer to help will be appreciated. Talk to the camp host when you arrive. Good luck to your son!
TRKHNTR Report post Posted April 13, 2015 They usually pair up hunters with their mentors Thursday evening hopefully there will be some mentors remaining. It all depends on how many mentors they have. Last year there were a lot more hunters then mentors and with the amount of kids showing up this year I would imagine the mentors will go quickly. I have sent you a PM.

IA Born Report post Posted April 14, 2015 To clarify, the Happy Jack camp also supports the 5A and 5B otc youth tags, not just the 6A youth lottery tags. Its a great camp and I'm sorry I have to miss it this year. They really need mentors down there, too!
naturebob Report post Posted April 14, 2015 The most important thing to anyone turkey hunting is patience. Its hard even for a veteran turkey hunter, so real hard for kids. They wanna see action...............BOB!
