Guest akaspecials Report post Posted April 2, 2015 Unbeknownst to me, my mother went and folded up all my old elk and deer hides and stored them for about a year after a remodel. The hides are now creased and the hair looks tufted out in places. Any recommendations on how to undo the damage so I can display them properly?
.270 Report post Posted April 2, 2015 lay em out flat on a table or something like it. weight down the creases with some books or some other heavy flat object. probably won't matter much if you do it hair or flesh side up. should go back flat after awhile. if the creases persist, wet the hide with water along the creases. use a wet rag. i work leather a lot and getting veg tanned stuff wet doesn't hurt it if you let it dry out good. don't keep it wet. unless it's cracked the creases shouldn't be too hard to remove.
