World record Elk 2010 SCI High fence

Recommended Posts

Just happened to see this the other day and was amazed that Elk are getting this big. I understand as the story goes it was shot in 2010 in a high fenced, private area. This is one amazing Elk and anyone that saw this would have to agree. Absolutely a huge monster of and Elk. This bruiser scored 617. UNREAL!!! Eye guards are as long as any other part of this rack. With this said, I guess any hunter with these morals could go to a petting zoo and do the same thing. It is an awesome elk but fenced in, on private property doesn't give this animal any fair chase at all. The thrill of the kill doesn't justify the means for such a majestic animal as this.

That's a TOAD! But it should have an asterisk next to it in the record books.

This elk will not score in P&Y or B&C beings it was not a fair chase animal. SCI is the only one to score this record and it also states it was high fenced area.

this photo was going around quite a few years ago. from what i remember it wern't even dead. tranquilized with a dart. see a gun or bow or blood anywhere? and it ain't anywhere near 610. would go well over 400 but not even close to 500. really big elk, lotsa horn, but it's a high fencer so it don't mean a lot other than it's neat to look at. they have captive whitetail that are scoring around 500 now. they are gross looking things. Lark.

High Fence??? In other words a farmed elk basically. Its an impressive animal but it shouldn't be in any sentence concerning actual hunting. People are pathetic, anything to brag.

As long as it was taken legally, I have no problem with someone dropping that elk. It should certainly not be a B&C or P&Y entry, but it is cool to look at. I look at it the same way I look at the couple times I have gone hog hunting in Texas and sat in a 100 square foot tripod stand and arrowed hogs when the corn feeder went off... It isn't the same as an actual hunt - but it was fun none the less, provided lots of great meat, and most important - Was perfectly legal.

We gotta stop slamming other hunters (flintlock better than percussion cap better than bolt action better than semi auto - longbow better than recurve better than compound better than crossbow.) If they didn't break the law - support them, at least publicly.

The anti's love all this internal bickering.

The anti's also love using video from high fenced canned hunts to fight normal hunting.

Do you really believe that the issue the anti's have is the high fence? They hate everything we do and everything we stand for - We should NEVER try to appease them... Their goal is the end of hunting - whatever baby steps it takes to get there they will do, like focus on the canned hunts.

Which is EXACTLY why we should all support every guy and gal out there putting meat on their table LEGALLY and present a united front in the fight to preserve our hunting privileges.

That old "United We Stand" stuff still has modern day meaning.

Almost every video I have seen these groups use have been high fenced or canned hunts. I don't want to appease anyone I just made a comment about what I have seen.

Just cause its law doesn't make it right or moral. And just cause someone hunts doesn't give them a pass to not be critiqued or critized when they do questionable things. Blind loyalty is dangerous and irresponsible. Its whats gotten this country into the mess its in now in all facets. The "antis" will never agree or get on board with what hunting is. Never! So bickering or not, doesn't matter.
