GameHauler Report post Posted April 27, 2007 Don't pump gas on May 15th. 2007 In April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight. On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places. There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up. If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take $2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companys pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day. If you agree (which I cant see why you wouldnt) resend this to all your contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May 15th"

Don't get you feathers all fluffed, I'm only kidding. I'm in!

Don't get you feathers all fluffed, I'm only kidding. I'm in! Actually, you're absolutely right. They go one day w/out sales, but make above average sales the day before & the day after. Even the 3-day gas-outs never usually work, because everyone fills their tank all the way to the top, just to pull in empty a few days later & fill up. If you guys want to get them, then you have to carpool, take the bus, ride your bike, or walk. That way you take the money out of their pocket permanently. I drive from Superior to Tempe, Mon thru Fri in a car that gets 30+ miles/gal. If someone in the east valley wants to carpool just let me know, but I'm at work at 6:00a.m., so you gotta get up early. az4life Report post Posted April 28, 2007 Great Idea on the carpool! Superior to Tempe sounds about the same distance as I drive to work in my 20 mpg truck. I gotta get a small car!
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted April 28, 2007 I think carpooling is a great way to effectively reduce fuel consumption and as my husband says to "stick it to the Saudis". He has been carpooling from Globe to Superior for the last 5 years. Hey Matty, he says he might be able to find a carpool ride for your superior to tempe trip. He will ask around and if he gets a bite, he will send the info your way. Amanda
KGAINES Report post Posted April 28, 2007 Remember while were sticking it to the saudis and the middle east we need to stick it to the venezualans too or at least to their worthless leader chavez.

mattys281 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 Im in! and at 2.97 a gallon, takes me about $65-75 to fill up! OUCH!! I hear ya there. Costs me over $40 to fill up my compact! At 1.5 tanks per week, I feel an extra few cents per gallon, not to mention the 80 cents/gal over the last couple months. Our express stop out there was at 2.20 forever (even while it fluctuated in town) then all of a sudden it shot up like everyone else. Think it 2.90 now. Give me a fricking break people, we only get something like 5% of our oil from that region, so where the heck does a 32% price gouge come from?! If we lost all that oil, they still couldn't justify that increase. They do it because they can, & we keep paying. End of story. The funny part is that you don't even have to do a gas out. All you have to do is get everyone to buy from just one supplier, say Arco or 76 for example, & after a couple weeks (if that long) the competitors price would plummet to try & regain market share. They key is to make them lose revenue, not to simply postpone them getting it. Unfortunately, as buyers we have the power to control the market, but what we lack is the unity & discipline.
