Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted December 13, 2007 I called in 4 young dogs at Roosevelt shot one . Second stand killed a bobcat in 4 minutes off a whirling woodpecker. Saw a few muley bucks too. buckhunter and Josh, What exactly is the whirling woodpecker......I guess I have been stuck too long on the old Circie calls I haven't even heard of that one......guess I need to get up to times a little better. Is that an electronic setup or a manual call?? Nice job on the critters.....nice cat......
josh Report post Posted December 22, 2007 Hey Redneck the Whirling woodpecker is a battery operated decoy you can clip to a branch and hang over your call box or just out in the open so the predator can focus on what is making all the noise. I would say a majority of the time it works well but I have had it also spook critters if they are sneaking up on the sound and get startled by the movement.Josh
Huntn coues Report post Posted January 23, 2008 My good friend Jon and I were out chasing some muleys around yesterday and around 4:00pm we came across this male. He was cruising out at about 250 yards and I got him to stop with a j-rabbit call and Jon dumped em. After we got to him I remembered I forgot my phone back at the ranger (yes Mike I know quit using the cell phone for pics) So on the way back to the ranger to take pics we glassed some deer so we only took one quick pic and it did not turn out very good but here it is anyway.
