Women's Cartridge

Recommended Posts

7mm-08 is a good cartridge with a lot of different bullet weights available. My daughter has shot one since she was a 10 year old and she weighs about a buck 15 at 21. Taken elk, deer, pigs etc. with Hornady's and core lokt's. Nothing fancy. Pound for pound a 12 gauge with a ounce and a eighth of shot kicks more than a 180 grain bullet out of a 30-06, save the "brakes" for the RUM's.

Wow a 25 06 for a kid ouch , anyway I got my wife a Remington 270 cdl with a muzzle break and a Leopold 4x14 scope , shorten stock to fit her and put a nice polymer recoil pad. Shots like a 223 and kills like a 7mm . I personally think the 270 is the best all around gun. And she killed a buffalo with it 1 shot. My opinion. Thx by the way she is 5'3 and 120lbs wont give her age. Tyx

My wife uses a .270 and my daughter shoots a .308, niether has a break. They have both taken several elk over the years. Here is Chrystie's from last year with her .270.

.270 , any girl can shoot it.

Even the .270 WSM is very easy for a woman to shoot. Mine doesnt kick any more than my regular .270..I think

You realize a 25-06 and a 270 are the same thing don't you? If anything a 25-06 will kick less due to lighter bullet selection. A 25-06 with a 110 accubond would kill any elk in the world if you shoot him through the lungs at 400 yards or less.

My 11 year old nephew took my 7/08 loaded with 140gr TTSX and dropped a cow elk dead in it's tracks last year.

Seems to me you already got it figured out. The .25-06 worked fine last time why not use it again. No need to reinvent the wheel or waste money. If you really just want to spend money upgrade the optics.

So the 25-06 did fine and you want to change?? Any of the above choices are more then capable of the task at hand. That being said I have owned my Remington 700 in 25-06 since 1972. ( I bought it brand spanking new for $139.00 ) The difference between then and now isn't the caliber, its the bullets. What we have now is so much better. Shoot a premium bullet, and place your shot, and have your knife sharpened.

It is tooo bad that the ELK cant talk. Some of them would object to being killed with some of the suggestions. They would also object to riding in your whatever truck.

have a 25/06 bdl. love it but in my opinion only it kicks more then a 270 cdl. More powder smaller bullet more recoil, could be wrong not a reloaded , my shoulder just believes it. Awesome bullet my opinion

It's always fun to have an excuse to try something new.

I think it depends on the rifle too. A good recoil pad can make all the dif. For example. My dad had a rem 20 gauge auto shotgun I hated to soot cuz it kicked like a mule compared to my 12 gauge 870.
