MASS

Recommended Posts

I finally asked my father-in-law if I could borrow a set of antlers he has from a buck he hunted back in the 90's (or 80's - I wasn't really listening to the story that well - the sheds distracted me).

His story went that he archery hunted this buck for 20 some days one season but couldn't close the deal on him, went out in the summer and found his sheds. The buck was shot by a rifle hunter the next year (I think there might be a photo of it on Reynold's Coue's Connection - but I can't confirm).

This buck had the best mass of any sheds I've ever handled. He was an absolute bruiser! Its no wonder he didn't even chip a point off that year.

They measure at 53/49 inches without a spread

Anyway here are some of the photos.

That is the left antler next to a shed of mine that measures 38 inches.

Wow talk about a bruiser of a buck. To bad he couldn't do the deed and put that deer on the ground. At least he has the sheds from a truly impressive specimen.

Outstanding shed!

Doesn't surprise me that it ended up in Reynolds's coues collection. I've bought some whopper sheds from him on ebay.

Super nice and thanks for sharing!

Those sheds look very familiar! We picked up two sets of sheds off the same buck.

My hunting partner shot the deer in 1998. It had a gross score of 122 , and netted 114 and some change.

A picture of the deer is on my hunting website. (third photo down on the left column)

AZP&Y I wish it was in my collection. My buddy has the two sets of sheds also.
