I ran wraps with vanes all last year. I thought I was going to be cool, and buy the fletching jig, and start doing my own arrows. It didn't work out that way for me. It was easy to remove them before I took them to the shop to have them all refletched. I didn't have any problems while I was shooting with them. Is this the shoot they have up in clints well?

I'm using blazers on wraps for my new rig. Don't seem to bond as well to the wrap as they do to the arrow using the Bohning instant gel. Have had several come off already. When I make my next batch of arrows I'll cut the back couple inches off my wraps & fletch right to the shaft.

I have been wraping mine and my wifes arrows for the last two years

I like how well they show up on animals and it also makes them easier

to find when you miss a target !!! :P I also use blazer vanes and goat tough

glue, although pretty expensive I have never had a vane come off.

The bases of the Blazer vanes are chemically treated and Bohning doesn't recommend cleaning them. Might try a different glue.

Casey,

Use some brown vanes and black nocks. Then Gabe can't use your arrow as an aiming point when you're in the 12 ring, or a reference point to find the 12 ring. You can switch to the bright nocks and vanes when archery deer season opens. You can always buy more arrows at the shoot if you lose or break too many.

I never clean the bases of the fletchings. Both AAE & Bohning recommend cleaning the shafts w/ abrasive cleaners, but no chems. like acetone or alcohol. I've personally had trouble w/ both the AAE & Bohning instant glues on aluminums & wraps. Think it's due to the smooth finish, where as the carbons have a more porous surface & those glues bond like cement on them. I use the Goat Tuff for inserts, but haven't yet tried it on fletchings.

Casey,

Check out this thread on another forum. http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.p...ght=spray+wraps

This is what I use and I will never go back to wraps. It is easy simple and cheap. I use it on on my Gold Tip shafts fletched with Blazers using Bohning Platnium Glue. I can't even peel a vane off with pliers afterwards. It will tear before it comes off. If I wasnt out of town working I would get you a pic of my arrows. Maybe I will post a pic of the arrows when I bag my gobbler with one this weekend  .

I have been using the blazers for a couple years and like them alot. I just ordered some more arrows that have the factory fletchings on them, and plan on doing some comparison shooting with broadheads to see which are better. Instead of using wraps on my arrows, I just dust the arrow for about six inches with white paint. Make sure you don't get any on the fletchings, because it will cause them to wrickle a little. David

I have never used wraps. How much weight do they add to the tail end of your arrow? I would like to calculate the percentage impact that would make on my FOC. I have used both AAE fast set gel and also Goat Tuff and have never been able to get Blazers to stick. Duravane Predators work well with Fast Set Gel.

I love the blazer vanes with or without wraps they work great.

A few tips on making them stay on.

1. Use Denatured Alcohol to clean the arrow shaft or wrap Not rubbing alcohol. Denatured Alcohol can be found at Home Depot.

2. If your arrow has a gloss finish to it lightly sand the shaft were the vane will be placed then clean with Denatured Alcohol

3. Do Not clean the base of the vanes!

4. Bohning Platinum works great on blazer vanes if the arrow is clean.

This is what we do at the shop and have never had a problem with the vanes coming off. Some of this is a repeat of what others have said but I hope this helps you out.

The White vanes with the wraps are my hunting arrows. I go all white they are easy to find and show blood very well.

Green shows up well to but thats not a good thing!

The camo vanes are my 3D arrows they are tuff to see in the targets. They are what we call Chicken Sh%$ arrows!!!!!
