Game meat choice?

Recommended Posts

I have eaten a lot of different game meats in my 58 years. Everything from snakes to armadillo in Texas, to rabbits and javelina in AZ. I finally harvested my first Antelope in 2012. My wife who can be pretty picky about what she eats as far as game meat, tasted some of the Antelope steakes I had prepared. I had eaten it only 1 time before many years ago and thought it was just OK. Moose had really been my favaorite until then with a juicy Elk steak being second. I will say without a doubt now that that Antelope is my number 1 favorite. She even went out of her way to say, and I quote, "I hope you get another tag for them. That was awesome" Just wondering what ya'lls favorite may be.

Thanks

Antelope is my favorite as well. Desert Muleys are pretty close to the bottom IMO.

Agree on the desert muleys. Some can get pretty saging tasting. I have had some that are excellent tho & I'm sure you have too.

Antelope is good but if you ever get a chance to eat Oryx, do it! It is probably the best game meat I've ever had.

I really guess it depends on the care of the animal in the field and the way it has been prepared for dining. I have eaten animals that were killed on the same hunts and times I have and their meats have def. had a distinct game taste.

My top favorites are:

Antelope

Moose

Oryx

Coues deer

2nd person with the Oryx CW., I would really love to try this meat. I need to get shot in the a$$ with gold first to afford that hunt. Thanks for the input tho.
