muledeerarea33? Report post Posted March 15, 2015 Lion, bison, cotton tail, and elk. It's all really good to me though. I'm smoking a venison corned beef, or should I say a venison pastrami? Either way. Also smoking some trout.

Snapshot Report post Posted March 15, 2015 Lion, bison, cotton tail, and elk. It's all really good to me though. I'm smoking a venison corned beef, or should I say a venison pastrami? Either way. Also smoking some trout. I tried smoking trout, but the rolling papers kept getting soggy Kidding....... I love smoked trout and Salmon, along with some good cheese and crackers. Antelope is the best I have had from anything with 4 legs. I hear some of the African game is quite delicious, hope to try it some day.

Sam Report post Posted March 15, 2015 It has been about 30 years since I have had antelope, I have clearly forgotten what it tastes like. 1. Coues - any cut 2. Musk Ox - Ground. The meat has alot of veins, so steaks tend to be tough. 3. Elk - any cut 4. Moose - any cut 5. Mule deer - backstraps Favorite small game - squirrels in a crock-pot. lancetkenyon Report post Posted March 16, 2015 I really guess it depends on the care of the animal in the field and the way it has been prepared for dining. I have eaten animals that were killed on the same hunts and times I have and their meats have def. had a distinct game taste. Best post on the thread. I could not agree more. Makes night and day difference. I would eat a well cared for rattlesnake over a poorly cared for elk. For game I (or someone in my household) have taken: Quail Elk Antelope (from Wyoming) Mule deer Coues deer Duck Black Hawaiian sheep Angora Goat Rabbit Javelina Dove I was going to put Mexican Grey "Large Coyote" on there, but then I remembered the third "S". Kind of stringy anyway.
