I have verified drops with my .25-06 Ackley out to 1360 yards, and .300RUM out over 1500 yards. Great antelope any way you look at it. I can only hope I draw a tag soon. I have got to be close. Yes AZ. 2012..unit 18a..I didnt tell you all the part about the record booker I missed 2 times the day before at about the same yardage. Held over him a little to much. I was by myself that day. One of the gentlemen helping me the next day witnessed my failure the previous day. My range finder only went to 400 yards and I couldn't get a fix on him. He said he had been watching the buck I missed for a week and that he def. would make the book. He was a retired guide out of Safford. I will never hunt by myself again. That was my point of this thread. I do agree that this rifle is my number 1 favorite now. From all the research I have done on the short mag rifle out, the .270 beats them all. Jack O'Connor made the .270 one of the best rounds there is. he havested every animal in North America with it. Now they have it in a MAG? I am tickled sh*tless. By the way. My standard .270, 3000 fps accurbond at 100 yards is 2" high, at 200 yards it 4-1/2" high and zeroed in at 300 and at 500 yards is 5 MOA which I don't remember in inches but I believe it is exceeding 35-40 inches. Most guns after 350-400 yards start dropping like a rock. You need to go out and shoot that gun and see what' it's doing and tell us your secret 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Again I have never owned a .270wsm. If I have a box and a half of shells through this i would be surprised and that includes sighting it in when I first got it.. I plan on doing a lot of checking and shooting with this shortly. Flinching? Maybe, but after missing a booker the day before, I was pretty steady with bipods and laying down with a good anchor when I took the shot. I will let you know what I find. Maybe after this weekend. The comments about a .270 WIN, which I have shot for 30 years, were in reference to comparing a .270 WIN to a .270 WSM. that somone had made. I don't think that a .270 WIN would shoot the same as a .270 WSM. So your point is what? My post was to get info on if anyone else had had this type of performance with a .270 WSM and was this normal for this round. I have no reason to lie about my experience with what happened. If you have a .270 whatever sighted in at two inches high at one hundred yards (roughly a two hundred yard zero), and it drops eight inches at 517 yards, your gun would be on the verge of blowing up or your bolt would have to be pounded open with a sledge.
