Stickflinger76 Report post Posted March 10, 2015 Looking for feedback from experienced people whom have used aftermarket vertical grip tacticle rifle stocks. Such as manners, h&s precision, McMillan etc... Will be using on a savage long action. Thanks in advance.
lancetkenyon Report post Posted March 10, 2015 I really like Manners, even though McMillan is made in AZ, but I admit I have never had a McMillan....yet. But either one are amazing pieces of tactical or hunting art. I have an H&S Precision and a Bell & Carlson Medalist too. More in a sporter type hunting stock. Both are great for the price point. Glad I could help make your decision clear as mud.
willhunt4coues Report post Posted March 10, 2015 You cant go wrong with a manners they are very high quality and they just FIT. You know what I mean when I say fit. You have most stocks out there just don't seem to be comfortable, and fit you good. Manners do. Lots of guys that have held my gun says man that feels good. Just says something about their stocks. Mcmillan are also a great stock just again mcmillan, HS, bell they all feel the same just don't feel right. Thats my opinion though. Only bad side to manners is dang I dropped 1000.00 on mine and you can easily drop 1200.00 for a folder or carbon. The carbon fiber EH1 (I think thats the model) was the one I wanted only weighs in at 26 oz and that with a chasis system but did not have them in stock and would be a 3 month wait.
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted March 10, 2015 I've got zero complaints about my McMillian Game Scout that is on my 7 LRM. Took a little getting used to as I am used to more sporter/hunting style stocks but I really like it and for as light as it is (my rifle is 7.3# before glass), the recoil of a .284 180 gr bullet at 3060 is manageable enough that my wife chose to use that rifle over my 257 wby for her deer hunt. Stickflinger76 Report post Posted March 10, 2015 Well after shuffling through the web and gathering info...it appears McMillan is the only one that offers a long action savage upfront. Manners has a bdm chassis to fit a savage action into a remington stock. Looks interesting. Most tactical stocks for savage are offered in short action only. Unless I am overlooking something...? Thanks for the replies. It is nice to hear your experiences.

PJM Report post Posted March 12, 2015 Get a Stockade stock for Kevin Whitehill - wait is 7 months, cost $300, but it's well worth it. I have two mule deer models.
Willyhunts2 Report post Posted March 13, 2015 I've got the McMillan game scout and love it. It was pricy and took 7-8 months to get it but was worth it.

452b264 Report post Posted March 13, 2015 For a Savage long action I would think about a Boyd s Laminate, and pillar and gas bed it. Money saved? $100 for the stock and about 250 to bed it, unless you do that yourself. You have to bed the other stocks anyway.

Big or Bust Report post Posted March 13, 2015 Depends on how you shoot. Do you shoot prone a lot? Over a pack? Mostly range fun?
