tjhunt2 Report post Posted March 8, 2015 It was a windy day and I almost didn't even put in. Was almost skunked. I caught 1 2lb bass on crank bait and Peg caught 1 yellow bass for the day. Boy was it tough. Did not see any beds. One guy said he saw lots of fish on beds and told us their were 6 bass on beds in this one particular small cove. There were 6 small frys but no beds like he said. He sure didn't know what he was talking about. I'm thinking we need about 2 more good weeks of warm weather. Water was 55deg. CouesPursuit Report post Posted March 16, 2015 This weekend at Alamo with an older friend of mine who doesn't appreciate sunrises as much as I do: 3/14 On the water by 8:30am, crappie in the boat at 8:32am, 10" female released back for her first successful spawn attempt. Caught 4' down in 23 fow, trolling 1.0 mph. Fished hard for 5 hours totaling 5 fish. 3/15 On the water by 8:00am. Several immediate bites, missed 2 in 10 minutes, 1 hit hard as I felt it pull out of her mouth and 1 wanted to take it slow and I couldn't get it to commit. Nailed the 3rd offer though and boated a nice crappie after about 15 minutes on the water. Proceeded to catch 10 keeper crappie spread out over the course of 4 hours. I think one fell below for the photo or it could be in Tom's hand. The bite was at its best right before we left at 12-noon. We did hit 2 schools of feeding crappie which was nice as it hasn't happen in a while. We landed 2 fish out of one school with a third pole buried while we were working the others. Then later we landed 1 fish with 1 fish LDR, and again a third pole buried we just couldn't get to. The pattern? There was no pattern, except running your bait shallow (6 feet was too deep). We covered every area in 17-25 fow and caught fish in every area we covered. Chartreuse was the ticket as for color. Caught a few on bare roadrunners, one on JDG, one on pink/chart, but most on the usual BBC. Total of 15 fish in 9 hours, 2 male 13 female. Nothing over 2 pounds but a couple that pushed that number. Not the best weekend in catch rates but a great time on the water. *This post was originally written for another site with a dedicated audience so feel free to ask me to elaborate on anything.
