MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted February 25, 2015 I have 2 Mauser model 2000 rifles I am refinishing and cleaning up. I have the stocks all ready for finish but I can't decide which way to go, leaning towards tounge oil but wanted to see what others have used?
STOMP442 Report post Posted February 26, 2015 Chem-pak Pro Custom Gun Finish is my finish of preference. Add a little Rotten Stone and Bone black to fill the pores and really make the wood pop. You can get all the stuff from Brownells or Midway. I would post links but the site is not letting me.

.270 Report post Posted February 26, 2015 singleshot, did your dad make that stock? i cut down a couple black walnuts on my place. sawed one up into slabs and boards. haven't done anything with the other one yet. got some slabs that are 14 feet long, 2 feed wide and 4 inches thick. and a buncha thinner ones. i'd like to have a stock made outta wood from my place. that is one sharp looking stock you have there. singleshot Report post Posted February 26, 2015 Yeah he did Lark. And it's your all time number one favorite caliber!!! 7mm-08! Built on a Marlin XS7. He says it's the last one and it is my daughters. He's had a few serious set backs lately and unfortunately this is probably the last one. Pretty one though. .270 Report post Posted February 26, 2015 really, a 7mm/08 is the last gun Steve's gonna stock? that is just immoral. you should put a .243 barrel on it. that is one good lookin' chunk o' wood. tell your ol' man howdy for me next time you talk. hope he perks up. PRDATR Report post Posted February 27, 2015 I was wondering what manufacturer that was. It looked like a Model 700 but the back part of the bolt (shroud?) was different. It is a beautiful stock. I wish I had a quarter for every 7-08 round if shot during my Silhouette days.
Curtis Reed Report post Posted July 3, 2015 I finished my AK Yugo wood stock with just tung oil. I applied about 6 coats with light steel wool buffing in between coats. Turned out great
