PRDATR Report post Posted February 13, 2015 How old is it? Is it one of the newer 7 shot models?
hunter01 Report post Posted February 13, 2015 It's a six shooter, not sure on the age, I'll have to research that.
Blade Report post Posted February 13, 2015 I've had two 6" S&W 686's over the years, and both were excellent guns. one of them was a 686 plus, the seven shot prdatr mentioned. Regretfully i traded both of them off a few year ago. If i wasnt getting married in a few months i would very interested in this gun. Knowing the dash number after the model number may be useful to prospective buyers. For example Mod. 686-6 good luck on the sale.

PRDATR Report post Posted February 14, 2015 So I researched to -4 Model and it was produced from 1993 to 1997. I think this is one of the more desirable years as in 2001 they went to the internal lock. Bump for a nice rig.
hunter01 Report post Posted February 14, 2015 Thanks for the bump there PRDATR. I get this from an 80 yo gentleman that was convinced by a bogus salesman that he needed this gun for home self defense, the sales guy talked him into a trigger job as well. Sold him hot ammo to boot. Clearly taking advantage of this guy with minimal knowledge on handguns. The elderly guy was not happy with the recoil. So, shooting less than a box, decided to sell it.
