HuntHarder Report post Posted February 13, 2015 Marc is a top notch Taxidermists. I too have an antelope @ the Taxi with the same question. I looked all over online for habitat with a wall pedestal, but I personally think they all look weird. I think I am going to go with just the pedestal and no habitat. All the habitat I have found that I liked, are all floor pedestals. Your buck is a stud, and you should definitely keep the ear tag. Goes with the story and history of the animal. I will watch this thread to get ideas for mine as well. PS. That African antelope wall pedestal is awesome!! Too bad my pronghorn wasn't from Africa, those spears and shield make that mount POP!
rageinthesage Report post Posted February 13, 2015 You're in good hands with Marc. Here's an antelope he did for me but it's no pronghorn. For a few extra bucks you can get creative with your pedestal mount. I brought the spears and shield back with me and had the wood base custom built as well as a custom metal structure behind everything. I brought it all to Marc and basically just asked him to make it work with a general idea of what I wanted. He turned it into a piece of art. Awesome mount, can't believe you killed a gazelle with a spear!...

It was tough getting close enough to use a spear but the loin cloth I was wearing allowed me to blend in with the natural surroundings.
Tunachaser Report post Posted February 13, 2015 You live in Flag there are some great guys here that could mount your buck. Was this a Diy hunt, or did you hire a outfitter? Your buck is very beautiful he will look great on the wall. If you don't mind me asking what did he score? Plunkett is my grandpa's neighbor and I've never seen better work than his. He is slow but that doesn't matter to me. My family and I have had quite a few animals mounted by Flagstaff guys in the past but after seeing Plunkett's work, I have to use him. My hunt was DIY. I had a great team to help me including my brother, dad, and a few friends. "Captain Hook" scores 82 1/4". 16 1/4" x 16 1/2".
Tunachaser Report post Posted February 13, 2015 MATDADY, I really like your mount! Kind of reminds me of my buck for some reason. My buck was never a fighter, never aggressive, I actually never saw him near a doe and obviously the archery season is during peak rut. He was a little weird in that sense but he was also very very old. His teeth are crazy jacked up. Ill try to post a picture of them. Thanks everyone for you input and advice!! azhuntnut Report post Posted February 14, 2015 I used TR Taxidermy in Flagstaff. He was highly recommended by another member. He was able to do some custom work for me and finished in a timely manner. He has done over 1000 antelope mounts. I had him do the mount, I did the top structure, and another member on here helped me build the pedestal out of some really old wood I found in the forest. I had him insert a tube inside of the body so I could spin it on the pedestal. David http://trtaxidermyart.com
Tunachaser Report post Posted February 14, 2015 TR is retiring soon. He used to be huge in Flagstaff. He did a lot of work for my dad. Really nice guy. I really like your mount though! Being a college student, floor space is very limited. I couldn't do something like that but I love the idea. Very unique and beautiful! Holy cow!! Do you see how close your buck and my buck look alike? Thats crazy!!!
