Guest wdenike Report post Posted February 11, 2015 If you wait until the last minute it is your fault. You had plenty of time. Now all the last minuters get to keep applying making my chances of getting drawn worse. AZGFD just wants to make sure they get every $13 possible. They only have X tags to issue so every application above X is just extra money in there pocket. Extending the deadline just means more people to give them $13. So you don't want anyone to infringe on your percentage chance of getting a tag. And are willing to screw someone that really did nothing wrong, out of their opportunity to draw one. And fish and game wants all the thirteen dollars they can get. Seems like two of the same to me. It appears birds of a feather do flock together.Take care, Willie You are incorrect, They did do something wrong. They did not get their app in on time. If they hit send at 6:59 they did nothing wrong. Some have simply been programmed to accept mediocrity, and reward failure. Typical problems associated with public service unions. Take care, Willie
AZHUNTER05 Report post Posted February 11, 2015 This whole "it's your fault, don't wait until the last minute" argument is such BS. Just think of it this way... if you had a deer tag and it was the last day and you hadn't killed, you're going to hunt until it's dark. You're not going to quit because it's the last minute are you? That has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. That would be like saying I had a 400 inch bull broadside at 20 yards, but didn't shoot because it was only 30 minutes into opening day! They give us several weeks to put in every year, I can't think of one good reason to wait until the last day to apply.

couesmagnet Report post Posted February 11, 2015 It's all my fault guys and gals. I crashed the server last night with the 10 apps for my immediate family at the last minute. I love having those lazy tags stacked like cordwood in my families pocket. I was getting nervous there wasn't going to be an extension toward the end, and like clockwork, it came. Whammo bammo. Reminded an ultra lazy friend this morning of the extension, and he slid into home with his kids and several other of his family apps. Now all i need is another lazy 380 bull to come in around 1030 so i can sleep in till 10, and roll into the blind after only 15 minutes of being there and a solid nights sleep. Thanks to the g and f for honoring their word of being able to put in till last night, and the ensuing extension to honor that promise.

elkaholic Report post Posted February 11, 2015 I know there will never a way to find out but I wonder what % of the lateholes actually get drawn? A deadline doesn't mean a dang thing to G&F- it crashed for an hour fix it open it up for an hr - problem solved even if they allow an extra day remember last yr - at the last minutes they had problems and extended it agin SO STUPID ! but I expect it agin tonight be honestly surprised if it closes
lancetkenyon Report post Posted February 11, 2015 This is my opinion. and yours may vary. If my boss asked for something by close of business, I sure as heck would not wait until 4:59 to turn it in. If I tell a person to meet me on a site at 6:00AM, they better not be late. If one of my customers wants to meet at 7:00, I am there by 6:30 at least, and I allow a lot of time for unforeseen issues that often arise. "Why does poor planning on your part constitute an emergency on mine?" should be G&F's response. There is absolutely no reason to wait until the last hour to put in for a draw. If you miss out, you should not go hunting. Someone stated that people are used to mediocrity. That is their fault. G&F should honor the hard deadline set forth in writing, which is a reward to those who get their application in on time, and a penalty to those who don't.

They extend the draw to not piss people off and make more money. This disclaimer means the deadline date should be 100% a hard deadline. You have plenty of time to get your online app done or take it to G&F directly. I make sure to give myself at least 1 full day incase there is an online issue so I have time to take the app to g&f in person if I need too. It's not my fault you waited to long and can't read the rules. If you read the rules and still gambled on the worst odds on how to submit your app and lost why is that everyone else's problem? Let's stop changing rules to make everything "fair". Life isn't fair.

Sam Report post Posted February 11, 2015 The disclaimer/warning is pretty clear - don't wait until the last minute. The deadline should not have been extended. Even the best servers crash. Don't try to say the IT department at Game and Fish is not up to speed. Don't blame it on Government workers. Blame yourself for waiting. I work for one of the largest school districts in the state. At the end of each semester, 1000s of teachers wait until the last minute to post grades. While at the same time, 1000s of parents and kids are trying to check their grades. And guess what, the system crashes.
