elkhunter Report post Posted February 11, 2015 Had a good season with the ham hunt. I had to work Friday but pops was out in the field already. He chased 3 pigs Friday morning with no success. I arrived near the camp just before sunset and glassed up a herd roughly two miles out and developed a plan for Saturday morning. Sat morn came around and pigs were no where to be found. We decided to loop around and hike to the top of the hill hoping to find the pigs. Once at the top we found the herd at the base of the mountain and we moved down. The pis were squirrely and wouldn't stay still so we ranged em at 152 yards and the pistol barked, our first pig was down, congrats to dad! He made a perfect shot and our pistol was zeroed in a 100 yards. Sat evening resulted in no pigs found. Sunday morning we headed to a glassing spot where we can glass for miles. I found another herd about a mile and half out and we made our move. Again these pigs are highly pressured and wouldn't stay still, took a while but finally had a shot opportunity at 92 yards and put this pig down. Fun hunt! We stayed out all day Monday just for the heck of it. Neither pig had an exit wound and the Hornady sst 55grn 223 made excellent damages in the pigs breaking shoulders.

PRDATR Report post Posted February 11, 2015 Congrats, first pig I ever shot was with a TC in 223 down in 32 in the mid 80's. I bought it from a co-worker for the princely sum of $100 with a 1.5X TC Scope and a 10" 44 mag barrel on it and added the 223 barrel later. Sold it about 5 years later to but an XP-100. Like most other guns I sold I wish I still had it, Ser # was 13xxx.
