New AZ arch deer dates!

Recommended Posts

Ok, here I finally found what I think he is referring to.

from the meeting minutes:

"The only substantial public input received regarding elk hunts since the last public guideline and

recommendation process was that the early general bull hunts were scheduled too late to take full

advantage of prime rutting behavior or bugling activity . As such, the proposed package deviates

from Commission approved guidelines by adjusting the early bull hunts (general, archery and

muzzleloader) one week earlier to address public desire relative to the prime elk rut hunt

opportunities ."

Thanks for making an effort to keep my days straight Amanda. Your correct, the DCA meeting is in Phoenix on Tuesday the 17th at 7 PM, Calvary Community Church located between Thunderbird and Cactus on the south bound service road. Room 204. I am quite positive that someone from Game and Fish will be present.

Leonard knows how to push the program, this is why he is where he is.

Why do we as the supporters of the G&F have to fight to conserve our resources.

They want to cash in, in any way they can. We want to conserve what we have.

Why do we have to fight the Commission and the Department on every issue at every meeting?

How is this a team? How do we or can we support each other? It seems those days are gone.

I am losing heart to fight this fight. Maybe that is what they want.

They were going to allow anyone with a tag to hunt, as a matter of fact you can still hunt turkey during the elk season as long as you have a turkey tag, and you do not need an elk tag. They were trying to create a mixed game hunt, they thought people wouldn't mind having the seasons overlap.

If you go to the azdeer.org site you can watch the video of the commission meeting where this discussion took place and if there would not have been an outcry by the hunters at that meeting they would have left the seasons open for anyone with a deer tag.

B)

dont know why everyone is so worked up about this issue because you are not permited to hunt in any elk unit for any other animal other than elk unless you have an elk tag.

I haven't looked if it changed back this year but the last couple of years in 22 we had deer, squirrel, and hound hunters chasing lion & bear during our 22 archery elk hunt. I also thought it was closed for non elk tag holders until I asked a game warden. It didn't cause a problem for anyone in our party except a couple squirrel hunters walking in to hunt on one of our water holes we were sitting. They politely left and I would had done the same if they had been there first. If you get off the road, put in your home work, you can get away from most of the overlap hunters.

People in general don't like changes but I feel if we all work together and get rid of some of the negitivity, and try to use some positive thinking, we just might settle alot more issues with G&F instead of hating everything they do. That's just my opinion and I'll keep an open mind. G&F isn't going to please everyone. Maybe I'm to soft on G&F but after 17 staight archery tags I'm loving life. :D B)
