KGAINES Report post Posted April 10, 2007 Thanks Amanda I was waiting for you to post this. I think we need to get a large group together and all show up at the meeting and let them know how each of us feel, they have shown in the past they really don't care what an organization is thinking unless it is to their benefit. There are some in the azgfd and the commission that are on our side, but they don't seem to like a single person representing us all, we all need to get up there even if it is to only say we are supporting the ADA, the MDF, the AES, the ABA, the RMEF, etc..., if we show up in numbers we will show unity and a resolve to at least keep what we have, but it is not out of the realm for us to get a little more of what we might want. on the other side of this if we as hunters are outnumbered by the animal defense whatever and the peta people it does not bode well for us now or in the future. DesertBull Report post Posted April 10, 2007 1300+ tags on the Kaibab hunts again. I guess they "found" some more bucks. Disgraceful.
azcouesandelk Report post Posted April 10, 2007 I want to see where the new 900 whitetail tags will be put. I already think there are enough tags for all the hunts.
KGAINES Report post Posted April 10, 2007 http://webmail.aol.com/25045/aol/en-us/Mai...urveyReport.pdf You guys and gals this survey should in no way be able to dictate the way our game is managed, it might help in the hunt structures, but not in the management. Even though we know they paid very little attention to the ADA survey, they use their own surveys to set up hunt structures because that is what the public wants, the last time I checked I was part of the public, and I am in no way a trophy hunter and I disagree with a lot of their recommendations. Red Rabbit Report post Posted April 10, 2007 My initial thought is after scanning the recommendations: "Beam me up, Scotty. There's no intelligent life down here." The archery deer season ends the 20th of September, but archery elk opens the 14th. If you have an elk tag, you can still hunt deer, but you will have archery deer hunters in the woods without elk tags. It rained close to a normal amount last year, so there are a few more spikes and forkies this year. Let's issue more WT tags in October and November. Move the early rifle Kaibab hunt up a week because the harvest was higher than projected last year. But then let's issue 550 more tags for the earlier hunts? Coues 'n' Sheep Report post Posted April 10, 2007 Hot diggity dog!!!!!! They found more mule deer in 21, 22, 23, & 6A!!!!!! And they found more coues deer in 21, 23 & 6a!!!! Whooo Hooooo!!! I new they were hiding in there some where!!! What a bunch of frickin' MORONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There will be 1075 deer hunters in the woods in unit 23 on Oct. 26th and 1100 hunters in unit 22 and 850 hunters in unit 21..... wow.... not only will every tree have a hunter behind it, but so will every rock... ...... But hey, got give them credit in 6A.... they added one more hunt so as to not over burden the forest with hunters..... never mind the fact that we have hunters in the woods every week anyhow..... These guys are have got it all figured out..... They is Edjumacated!! Yeah, I reckon we can reason with them... ... going to their meeting is a formality. If you show up with several suitcases full of $100 bills you might to get them to listen to you.... cuz all they are listening to is the sound of coins hitting the bottom of the "piggy bank"!!!!!!! firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted April 10, 2007 I cant figure out these people. they really do stuff that are not "good calls". for some reason, it seems like only us hunters think that what they are doing is wrong. it is obvoius that the only reason they raise the amount of tags is like Gino said cha ching, cha ching. i really wish they cared more about our game then their pocket books. it is disgraceful and disgusting. to me, the worst part is they issue surveys like they actually "care" then when we tell them what we think and what we want, they dont give a rats ..... 111 Report post Posted April 10, 2007 Makes you wonder big time. A lot of the changes don't make a bit of sense... First off sending 800 doe hunters to the Kaibab just about does it. They've been reducing these tags for a couple of years now because they were worried about the population suffering. Now that a few more bucks are killed on the Kaibab we need to send an army in to plow the doe's down so a high success rate doesn't happen there again. Where's the logic in this????????? Way too many permits in some of the southern units for deer, I guess the deer are just jumping all over the hillsides down there. Archery Elk/Archery deer at the same time, how crazy is that. My only explanation for this is they couldn't send all the archery tags to November last year which upset them; so now they're going to upset the people that drew archery elk tags this year. The only good part about this whole deal is they have not hired anybody from New Mexico to work for them. I didn't notice any hunts starting on Saturday or mid-week. Oh but the changing the Kaibab deer hunt two weeks earlier LOL, I hope those hunters have high success and send G&F a message about hunter success and hunter opportunity. What a JOKE... DesertBull Report post Posted April 10, 2007 It's not just deer and elk at the same time. It's archery turkey too.
coueskiller Report post Posted April 10, 2007 Hey Guys, Here are the proposed 2007 Fall hunt structure recommendations.....AND THEY SUCK BIG TIME!!!!!!! I am now fully convinced that the AZGFD has their heads shoved so far up their asses they will never see the light of day again!!!! I guess we have deer running all over the place these days..... They want 2 doe hunts on the Kaibab for Jr's. with a total of 800 permits, that's 700 more than last year!!!! They want to move the Oct. 12aw,12ae up to Oct.12-21 and add 550 more tags than last year. This makes a total of 2560 deer tags in 12aw,12ae & 12b when you add up all the general, late, Jr & muzzleloader tags.....OUCH!!!! Also they want the archery OTC deer hunts/ turkey hunts to overlap the archery elk hunts by 6 days so opening weekend of your long waited archery bull tag is going to have archery deer hunters running all over sam heck!!!!! Well I guess once again we will need to get on the phone and attend all the meetings we can to try and make things right for the game in AZ. "Managing today for Wildlife tomorrow" what a fucking joke!!!! They added a total of 900 more whitetail tags, with 6A now having 3 Whitetail hunts. This is definatly the beginning of the end of hunting in Az. as we know it now, heck with this type of hunt structure there won't be any deer left to hunt in 10yrs. You combine this AZGFD bullshit with the Bullshit the Forest Circus is trying to do and you come up with one heck of a big butt mess!!!! Anyhow let's all do everyting we can to try and stop this from happening, not that it will help but we need to try. Later, Geoff
