Goulds Turkey

Recommended Posts

I would like to know why everyone is so caught up in hunting them, I know I will get beat up with this thread but, I honestly would like to know. In most units these birds aren't wild they will walk right up to you. I know most diehard Turkey hunters are addicted to hunting any species. I think these hunts should be offered to youth hunters since they are so easy to hunt I can understand someone wanting to put a different bird on there wall but do you really consider this a hunt? Most of these hunts are like going to the Phoenix Zoo with a bow or Shotgun so please enlighten me as to why we love this tag.

Me and my dad had the first hunt last season in 35 a and he took two trips down never got one. He was trying with his bow if had the shot gun would of had one.i got mine first morning with Xbow. I was picturing exactly what you were but honestly i was pretty disappointed in it not being a cake shot lol bc to go in the book has to have spurs witch some do not have any. That hunt has been 100% success I believe but it's a whole different ball game on that hunt not sure with the other units in pine trees and more "Turkish" terrain lol

He only scouted 2 times and you guys could have been 100 percent success ,come up to Flagstaff and scout a unit you don't know and scout 2 times and tell me how you do. For an antelope hunt i might put in over 30 days ,so 2 scouting trips with a 100 percent chance is pretty good on turkeys.

The youth can hunt them, just have them put in the general spring draw!

he went with and did the survey with the g&f in the unit 2nd weekend in April so knew where and what was going on and one more trip weekend before, and yes 2 trips in a 100% is a good chance but not a guarantee like pops always says that's why it's called hunting and not killing. Camp verde to parker canyon lake area is not like a 45 mint drive up the hill to flag. and this is the turkey forum not the antelope just incase you missed that. But when I do grow up i want to be as hard and bad a as you!!!! Lol better yet do you guide? Lol Jk I don't get along with know it alls

let me preface what I am about to say with I am a well accomplished hunter, however, when it comes to turkeys I know kids that are better than me. I am the worlds worst turkey hunter, please let me know where it is easy and I want to hunt there. I have taken four turkeys all in the archery season all hens, all luck. I think I will have 15 points for the next spring draw and want to take all of Arizona's species including sub species that is the main reason I keep trying to hunt Gould and have not stopped hunting turkeys all together.

Goulds hunts are not over-subscribed like the most spring hunts. Last few times I hunted our national forests for Merriam's, it was a joke, people were everywhere. I like a little serenity when I hunt. I am willing to wait for a great tag.

I'm trying for rio's or gould's i am not prejudice. Bob I will make you a deal you tell me where your honey holes are, when I draw a tag, and I will let you know how the hunting is. Just think of the peace of mind you will have knowing that your sweet spots are still sweet.
