Teo Report post Posted January 21, 2015 Sorry..............you're right, the story would be helpful (still a rookie at this). Saturday the 17th I was sitting in a blind late afternoon watching a really nice and tall 3x3 come into a small clearing where we had seen a lot of deer before. He started my way, but wouldn't get close enough for a comfortable shot. Behind him was the buck in the picture but was about 130 yards out, not following him at all. Right at dark, I watched them both bed in a thick group of mesquites and noticed they never came out the other side, so I hoped that they would bed there all night. Sunday morning the 19th, I got to the same spot right at first light and started to the edge of the mesquites glassing and keeping my fingers crossed that I got there early enough and they were still there. My real plan was if they had left (which I figured they did) I would work my way into the hills behind the trees to try to stick a pig. About 15 minutes into my morning, the deer in the picture presented himself at 45 yards.............and yes they were still in those trees! Never saw the 3x3, but then again wasn't really looking anymore!
