Couzer Report post Posted January 15, 2015 Ok I'm in the market for a sturdy lightweight 240lb capacity (I'm under the 240 pounds) chair/seat/stool that I can use for Glassing or Predator hunting. Like it to be at lest 12" off the ground. What is everyone using??? Any good chairs out there? I really like the tripod stools but the plastic piece in the middle the holds it together always breaks on me.
LifeFeedsOnLife Report post Posted January 15, 2015 Sportsman's has a chair like the tripod stools but it has four legs. Not sure what the weight limit is but it's more comfortable than the tripods.
W.O.T Report post Posted January 15, 2015 a few yrs ago I got one from Dicks, it had a tripod style chair that was pretty sweet. Had a back & cup holder. Its probably still somewhere in 23
rclouse79 Report post Posted January 15, 2015 This won't meet your 12 inch requirement, but I have switched over to using a z lite thermarest foam pad that folds up quickly. Fold it out in half and you have a nice big seat that is 3 to 4 inches thick. It also doubles as a nice alternative to the ground in you get sleepy and want to watch the back of your eyelids under a tree for a few.

Couestracker Report post Posted January 15, 2015 I like the double bull 3 legged stool with the back support. Plus I carry a butt pad and put it on the seat for extra padding.
AZbowhntr Report post Posted January 15, 2015 I don't know if you can get them anymore but I have a Jim White glassing seat. It unzips and has a nice back support that you can adjust.
Viper Report post Posted January 15, 2015 http://www.helinox.com.au/helinox-chair-one.php Just stumbled across this in a backpacking store and am excited to try it out Looks like the same one they sell at REI. I have a few light weight stools, but went back to a cushy pad on the ground.

lancetkenyon Report post Posted January 16, 2015 I use a folding stool for glassing when near (within 1/2 mile) my truck. When I am packing around, I use a pad. Very lightweight, and works fine. Just throw it on a stump/log and you are off the ground. When it is really windy, staying closer to the ground is more stable, and the pad can easily be thrown right on the dirt. You can see my daughter's pad on the backpack. They weigh less than a pound, but sure make sitting on the ground/stump more comfortable for long periods. For really elevated glassing to see up over tall bushes/trees, I bring along a mobile elevated platform. But they can get pricey, and weight limit is right around 155#.

lancetkenyon Report post Posted January 16, 2015 If I sit towards the back of the cab, I don't ever have a problem. If I get in the middle, I have heard and felt a slight pop, but it returns when I realize I am too far forward and move back. Hence the weight limit disclaimer.
