hoghntr Report post Posted January 13, 2015 I love it. And have spent a lot of time doing it. But it just hasn't ever come together for me. I have missed shots high, missed shots low, even bounced one into a pig on my first ever hunt. But for the most part I just haven't made it happen on these little guys. I have helped buddies, and kids but never my own with my bow. If unsuccessful on Sat, this will be my 10th consecutive batch of tag soup. Dont you live in n.phx? n.w.? Seldom Drawn Report post Posted January 14, 2015 My streak as the world's least successful pig hunter continues, I have one day left to fill my 2015 pig tag before it becomes the 5th straight pig tag I have eaten. That has got to be some kind of record or something. But in other news, look what I found in the most unlikely of places . . .IMG_14151.JPG IMG_14151.JPG My first 37A coues. I have friends that have killed for over 30 years in a row, maybe they can help you i will ask i quit at 15 in a row killed maybe 20 the last 2 were under 2 yards .I kinda felt guilty with pigs it's all about scouting and the wind. Swivelhead Report post Posted January 14, 2015 Although I've had a lot of success in the past, this year I've not even seen a pig. I'm in a new area that I have not put the boot leather to. Been relying on glassing. Spent 5 full days scouring a lot of good looking habitat and none seen. Seen some interesting Coues bucks however.
Havasuhunter Report post Posted January 14, 2015 I'm with you. I have trouble finding Javelina when I'm looking for them. AKA archery season. When I'm not looking for them they seem to be as common as Jackrabbits. I did pass on one last year at 40 yards right at dark. Sure I would have killed it, but didn't want to risk looking for it in the heavy brush in the dark. Hopefully passing helped my Karma, Im sure your streak will end soon. Very nice deer. Good luck out there.
Heat Report post Posted January 14, 2015 I have a tough time glassing them up sometimes, and other times they just appear out of nowhere in my binos or I bump into them walking back to the truck or something. I've even seen them from the road while driving a couple of times. One year I was putting my boots on for a last morning hunt and pigs came over the hill right towards our camp. We heard them up there growling and it was on from there. Last year we heard them before we saw them once as well. Another time near the same area as the over the hill experience, I bumped into them as they were coming out of a mine in the early morning after a rain and pretty much had to take a shot at one in self defense. One thing I have learned over the years is that you have to expect the unexpected from these critters! Most of my failure is due to my poor shooting and lack of scouting for sure.

Flatlander Report post Posted January 18, 2015 Well more of the same yesterday. I tried some new country, saw tons of deer and pig sign but didn't glass up a dang thing. I can't remember the last time I spent a day in the glass and didn't turn up a single thing. I did quit at noon due to family commitments, so I guess it was only half a day. I still believe the country I was in is the right country, so maybe I will give it a run again next year. I did score a nice shed, it was chalked out so I am guessing not too many people are hunting this particular spot. Oh well, there's always February.
4Falls Report post Posted January 20, 2015 Well, put another tag in the pile. Gave it one last shot after work. Tons of sign but it all seems about a week old. Oh well next year... next year.
Heat Report post Posted January 20, 2015 Its over for the season for me as well. Streak is alive and well. Got into javelina every day on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday but didn't connect. Of course my cousin killed a nice boar right in front of me yesterday. Oh well, at least I didn't wound one and not recover it this time.
Swivelhead Report post Posted January 29, 2015 Never did see a javelina this season. Spent 8 days behind the glass. Still a good time.
Havasuhunter Report post Posted January 29, 2015 Never did see a javelina this season. Spent 8 days behind the glass. Still a good time. Ouch! That's a lot of glassing. I haven't seen one either. Hoping I change that during the HAM hunt.

About 15 Years ago I met 2 guys and dad from Flag. in 36c, they said it was about 19-20th year in a row down there. All with kills. I told them right where I had just seen pigs. Not like they needed help. I was only Deer hunting. As far as Me ,Iv'e only killed 2. One rifle then 1 archery and that was enough. Have helped others with archery.. At 58 killen em doesn't excite Me no more , I'M just good helpin or watching.Like others said all Ya gotta do is play the wind........BOB!
