Flatlander Report post Posted January 12, 2015 My streak as the world's least successful pig hunter continues, I have one day left to fill my 2015 pig tag before it becomes the 5th straight pig tag I have eaten. That has got to be some kind of record or something. But in other news, look what I found in the most unlikely of places . . . My first 37A coues.
Viper Report post Posted January 12, 2015 We've been seeing coues in 37B for at least 5 years or so....but I thought it unlikely in 37A. Cool find. I was hunting 37A this past weekend and had that thought cross my mind, and thought "nah...I doubt it. Saw lots of mulies though, and some real nice bucks. Heat Report post Posted January 12, 2015 Dude you have no idea...5 years is nothing! Good Luck today!
DUG Report post Posted January 12, 2015 Stick with it! (no pun intended}. I have not gotten an archery pig since 2006 and that was with a 70's era Bear bow and stitches in my hand. Nice deer too!!!!!
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted January 12, 2015 Ive definitely got competition for you when it comes to doing it with a stick and string, don't crown yourself champion yet!
4Falls Report post Posted January 12, 2015 Yeah I have a pile of unfilled pig tags that you cant throw a rock over.
rclouse79 Report post Posted January 12, 2015 Sorry to rain on your parade, but I have you beat as the worlds most unsuccessful archery pig hunter. I have been seeing way more deer than pigs this year and have been spending most of my time chasing them.
Heat Report post Posted January 12, 2015 Is there a way to qualify or quantify worst? I'm sure I have you all beat by a mile!
bonecollector Report post Posted January 12, 2015 Wait a second I might have you all beat with not filling a archery pig tag. I did find a herd on Saturday while I was deer hunting. I am sure next month when my hunt is on that I wont find them again.
gotcoues Report post Posted January 13, 2015 I guess I never realized how many people are plagued with the "pig curse", I too suffered from the pig curse for many years. I sure hope you guys get the monkey off your back and somehow the curse is broken. I'm addicted to javi hunting now and as a family we seem to put the hurt on em! Headed out tomorrow to try and help my daughter and her boyfriend fill their first archery tags during this javelina hunt. Good luck on everyone's javi hunts!
goinhuntn Report post Posted January 13, 2015 I archery hunted javis for the first time in 2006. My dad & other hunting buddies had told me about all the javis they had seen the prior 2 years hunting this area. I think awesome this should be a great hunt with lots of action! As luck would have it we saw 1 javi in 5 days of tough hunting, and after my 3rd shot finally drilled him. I was hooked from that point on. I have hunted them ever since with very little success until opening day of this year finally got lucky again and sealed the deal half mile out of camp. Archery javelina has got to be one of my favorites hunts every year even if I eat tag soup. I guess what I'm trying to say is stick with it sooner or later it will happen. I know cuz I am one of the most unlucky guys when it comes to hunting I put in the hours scouting, hiking, glassing, and usually come up short. I wouldn't trade one minute of it either!!!!!!! Flatlander Report post Posted January 13, 2015 I love it. And have spent a lot of time doing it. But it just hasn't ever come together for me. I have missed shots high, missed shots low, even bounced one into a pig on my first ever hunt. But for the most part I just haven't made it happen on these little guys. I have helped buddies, and kids but never my own with my bow. If unsuccessful on Sat, this will be my 10th consecutive batch of tag soup.

firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted January 13, 2015 I've killed I've pig with my bow. Miss more than I've killed due to not having a chance to range and shooting over their backs. having said that, last year when I killed that pig with my pistol I had my bow in hand but put it down to kill with my 1911.
