Guest akaspecials Report post Posted January 12, 2015 This is a long shot, but in my opinion the az waterfowl season should be shifted a month later. Does anyone know the best way to get involved and propose changes to seasons? Half the birds are north of us when our season ends some years... Any useful advice or groups to get involved with (besides DU) would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
1uglydude Report post Posted January 12, 2015 Waterfowl seasons are set by the federal government based on flyways. They give the states the total number of days they can be open and provide very limited leeway in deciding where to use those days. If it were up to the state, then you might have a chance of being heard. Good luck getting Uncle Sam to listen.
Heat Report post Posted January 12, 2015 Not really sure when the Department hears the input on Waterfowl Seasons but I'm pretty sure all the hunts are subject to some public input. I would maybe call down there and speak to the small game specialist that works in the main office and see what they might recommend. Difficult but not 100% impossible endeavor. Fortunately, the AZGFD gives us the most liberal season possible in accordance with the Federal guidelines. Until the Feds change, there isn't anything the state can do . KidBowHunter Report post Posted January 12, 2015 Definitely agree with you that it should be extended. If you can get anyone to listen, I can help and give input or whatever.
khmer6 Report post Posted January 12, 2015 It would be great to have a February season! Especially since its usually colder than January lol. Migratory birds are heavily influenced by the feds. Arizona is very liberal on the seasons. One of the longest
