J.S.R. Report post Posted January 10, 2015 I think I am going to bite the bullet and invest in some quality hunting clothing. Which hunting clothing line would you go with and why? I will be hunting everywhere from Arizona in August to Montana in winter. Let's hear it!!

Antmo23 Report post Posted January 10, 2015 Kuiu, hands down the most comfortable hunting gear I've worn.
azpredator@work Report post Posted January 10, 2015 Kuiu. Buy a pair of the attack pants and you'll understand. I enjoyed sitka for years, but got rid of it and went to kuiu.
Antmo23 Report post Posted January 10, 2015 Kuiu. Buy a pair of the attack pants and you'll understand. I enjoyed sitka for years, but got rid of it and went to kuiu. And my mountain pants were shredded by cat claw on the very first trip I wore them.
J.S.R. Report post Posted January 10, 2015 How does the kuiu gear hold up against the catclaw and other brush here in AZ?
AZbowhntr Report post Posted January 10, 2015 I have gone to Sitka gear. Really comfortable and easy to get since Sportsmans sells it. It sucks biting the bullet and paying for it though.
Antmo23 Report post Posted January 10, 2015 It holds up about as well as you can hope for. I still have and wear my first pair of attack pant that I bought in 2011. They have the normal amount of pulls that you'd expect from a 4 year old pair of pants that get worn very regularly, but still hold up to rain and wind. n2horns Report post Posted January 10, 2015 For catclaw and cactus in Az use carhartt double fronts. For all else I habe.first lite in asat and kuiu in vias. I like the new kuiu chinook line. Good for me up to high 70s very low 80s. I preordered the kuiu alpime pant for warmer weather. I buy most of my either down or synthetic layers from non hunting places Better prices and generally warmer / more fill. I would not be runnimg these thru catclaw etc. I have first lite kanab pants in wool and are nice and ligh. They are coming out with a new synthetic pant. I am moving from first lite asat to kuiu vias. I like the vias pattern better for breakup. All my base layer wool is first lite. I think its better tban kuiu as its all wool and not any other materials. 100% wool reduces stink factor. I buy 1 or 2 shirts in camo wool from either maker as my outrr layer. Both companies have great clothes, insulation layers and rain gear. Pick a camo n or mix and match. Check kuiu forum for discussion on az clothes some peetty recent posts. capoeirajosh Report post Posted January 10, 2015 I personally run with all first lite gear. So far, I love it. I have the Alleghany base layer bottoms, Kanab pants, Llano top, Chama Hoody over that, and Uncompahgre Puffy over that. I also wear tthir merino gloves, brimmed beanie, and balaclava. All in Max-1. I have worn this stuff for a week straight and it still doesn't smell. You can't beat the comfort that comes with this stuff. Yeah, it is expensive, but in my eyes it is just another piece of gear. We spend all this money on our packs and our weapons. Why not our clothing that we are going to wear everyday? So far the first lite stuff has held up well. I thought I would have ripped them by now. I got most of this stuff back in August. Between then and now I have been out a whole lot whether it was scouting or hunting. That being said if I wasn't wearing first lite I would DEFINITELY be wearing Kuiu gear.
rcdinaz Report post Posted January 10, 2015 I think they are all pretty good. I have more Kuiu than anything and love their pants, rain gear, and jackets. Take a look at Core4 as well it has been very good and I got it on Camofire for 40%-50% off which makes it the best clothing investment i have made.
