ctafoya Report post Posted January 9, 2015 My wife and I have a ham hunt coming up. She is still on the learning curve with her bow so I want her to take a pistol. I would also love to shoot a pig with my grandpas old .38 service revolver. What kind of bullets/loads do you guys use for pigs? I got tons of ammo but im not sure what is acceptable for shooting a pig.
oz31p Report post Posted January 9, 2015 Hollow points. It's a lot easier to get one with a bow than a pistol.

Havasuhunter Report post Posted January 9, 2015 I can shoot to 100 yards 6 times fairly rapid and accurate, so I'd say it's not easier to get one with a bow than handgun. That's with the 44 mag scoped. Using a non scoped pistol like my glock or a small open sighted revolver, I'll take the bow any day. I'll be using 200 grain Speer hollow points pushed by 28 grains of H110 for my HAM hunt. Any decent hollow point from a 38 special on up should be rapid death for a Javelina. DUG Report post Posted January 9, 2015 It's ALOT easier to get one with a bow than a handgun in my experience. Just take some speed loaders for her.
ctafoya Report post Posted January 9, 2015 Hopefully by then she'll be more confident with her bow, but is nice to have a backup plan.
