goinhuntn Report post Posted January 7, 2015 Had an awesome hunt with my dad & cousin. After taking 12 hours to get from Havasu to our hunting area in unit 8 we were exhausted. We got stuck in the snow storm Wednesday on I 40 what a cluster. Opening morning greeted us with snow still coming down so we decided to hang out in camp & have coffee & breakfast. Around 10:30 the snow had let up & the sun came out we headed out of camp on the ranger hadn't even gone 300 yards jumped some pigs & of course we were not ready so they got away. We started laughing and headed up the road about a half mile & jumped a small herd this time I was ready and shot a nice female at 18 yards. My cousin came in late Thursday afternoon so we took him to where I shot my pig & glassed the area spotted a couple of bucks running together so went after them, but couldn't find in the brush. We headed back toward camp & jumped some piggies, but my cousin couldn't get set up. Saturday found a couple of bruisers for my cousin but he couldn't seal the deal. My dad being in his seventies decided he would rather chaufer us around than hike so he wasn't able to get any shots off. Had an awesome time & will be heading back before the season closes to try & fill my dads pig tag & deer for me. I had my dad take pictures with my phone & after I skinned out my pig I went to look at the pictures only to realize he had erased them by accident otherwise I would post them up. Still had a great time & plenty of memories.
kidso Report post Posted January 7, 2015 That must be a great place full of pigs to jump multiple herds like that in a ranger! Great job on the hunt.

Havasuhunter Report post Posted January 7, 2015 Way to go. I hunted much closer to Havasu and found great track and sign, but saw no pigs. Only had two days, hoping to hit it later in the hunt again. You live in Havasu year round?

Havasuhunter Report post Posted January 8, 2015 Havasuhunter what tag do you have? I live in Kingman we got my boy's pig in 18a the 2cd day. My tag is for 18b, the 17s and the 19s I believe. My HAM tag for feb is for 16A. I got that tag because I wanted to go check out Goodwin Mesa, but the snow kept me down by 93, south of Wikiup.
