Bye Bye Dish Network!!

Recommended Posts

Well hammering on the CS folks at Direct got me nowhere. Sent me to cancellation department who told me I'd get nailed for another $250 for cancelling. If I coulda reached through the phone somebody woulda been in trouble.

Auto renewal on promos should be illegal. I've already written my State Representative....for whatever good that will do...which is none at all.

Get ahold of Customer Retention. That is the key.

I got rid of Direct TV 2 years ago, best choice I ever made. $50 less a month and all I need is hunting shows and kids shows for the kids. My Roku and Netflix covers our bases.

The Roku has a lot of hunting stuff on it btw.

Funny story......we were on Cable one cable.......called them up cause my bill had gone up $5 bucks and I wanted to know why.

After calling them they decided I had been receiving the next level of service for over 2 years and wanted me pay for those years. I told them I was unaware of the problem, never ordered the upper level service and I would not pay them.

So I did the stupid thing and over reacted went to DISH......oh my gosh....internet service is horrible I am guessing because I have the cellar option.

I am wondering how everybody gets the internet service without one of these bundle deals? Remember....I still use a flip phone

I will try that ... Shed ... hope it works. Right now I have little other choice ... until Centurylink gets Prism down my dirt road, or COX decides to move in.

Problem with the Promo is that it was never explained that I had to request that it not be renewed ... I did all my ordering through Centurylink in their Direct TV Bundle. They said it was "printed on my bill" sometime before the autorenew ... problem is that I have autopay and never look at the darn bill if I don't notice something fishy. Only reason I looked at it was because Direct TV didn't get their billing to Centurylink on time and I got underbilled and then double billed the following month.

Very frustrating. Like I said ... auto-renew is bogus ... especially when I didn't sign up for it to begin with. Only football I watch on weekends is the Cards ... and I get that on local TV. I have no reason to get Sunday Ticket, and would never waste my money on it.

What did you think of the explanation given as to why Fox News was no longer offered on DISH.......DISH tries to throw it back onto Fox for strong arming negotiations......I am not sure I buy that explanation....

just curious, But what do you all watch on TV. We have one but only watch dvd's that our kids have made for us. we had our TV disconnected about 4 years ago. Is there anything worth watching?

Redneck channels: FOX News, Military Channel, History Channel, Outdoor Channel. That's about all.

I'm ready to cancel Directv. My monthly bill is ridiculous. I really only watch maybe 10 channels. I sure wish these companies would let us purchase our TV packages "ala carte" and let us choose what channels to purchase. It's frustrating to pay for 120+ channels, yet only watch a handful of them.

Another frustrating practice with Directv is not taking care of their loyal customers. New customers get all the free channels, best package pricing, free NFL Ticket, yet current customers get the shaft with no price breaks. Pisses me off every time I see the commercials offering all these great deals for new customers.

Unfortunately , they're all the same. I'm seriously thinking of going off the grid for TV and throw up an antenna and get the 10-15 free over the air channels available here in Phoenix.

If you call them you can get deals, you just have to ask what is available to the loyal customers ie free upgraded equipment and discounts. NO company is going to be forthcoming with discounts. I mean who wants to "give" money away.

I think with smart TVs and more Internet options we are within a few years of buying individual channels ala carte. Once hockey season is over I may just use Netflix. I like to see the news and a few other things, but I'm seldom home and it's just a waste of money.

I have had Directv for some time now. The prices are good during the first 12 months, then they start to creep back up. My trick, every 2 years I cancel and then sign up under my wifes name. Take advantage of the costco/directv $300 gift card!!

I think it's BS. Fox News has the best rated shows on the air they should be paid what they are worth. Funny, CNN was pulled too but they are back and nobody watches. I just got back from Pacifica Commifornia. No Fox News there, ever. Go figure.

That is funny right there, I was visiting with my son the other day and told him we were allowing our state to become Californicated........he looked at me like.....what are you talking about Dad??? Which led into the discussion of the California influence on all of our state laws and restrictions.
