Zeke-BE Report post Posted January 3, 2015 Unfortunately no pig or pictures. We had deer and javilana tags. This morning we were chasing a buck that was rutting hard. No shot opportunity. Heading back past the Border Patrol 20ft heigh camra this agent jumps out and shows us on their infrared camra where the pigs were. Almost cheating! Found them on the map and went after them. Sneaky buggers we couldn't find them! But thank form the help BP!!!!

khmer6 Report post Posted January 3, 2015 That's almost cheating lol. I always wondered when flir and other technologies would start going mainstream hunting. It will be interesting with the influx of drones and the sorts
kidso Report post Posted January 3, 2015 Now that is cool! But, it would have been so much cooler if you had tipped off the agent on the whereabouts of some "illegals" before or after they helped you out with the location of the pigs. It would have been a neat goodwill gesture of information exchange. Nonetheless, it is extremely satisfying to read about this type of cooperation, especially since the media has been recently crucifying law enforcement over "unarmed" shootings. Way to go Border Patrol!

DesertBull Report post Posted January 5, 2015 I'm waiting for the ethics police to claim that is not fair chase and "too much tech".
520HUNT Report post Posted January 24, 2015 I'm waiting for the ethics police to claim that is not fair chase and "too much tech". I heard from a friend today that Game & Fish was threatening border patrol agents with citations if they continued to help hunters. This was from a friend at the Nogales Station. I would think Game and Fish would have better things to do. Agents were told not to give any information to hunters from now on.
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted January 24, 2015 Probably had something to do with this post I would imagine.
naturebob Report post Posted January 24, 2015 Thats Bull crap. We can tell Border patrol where Illegals are, but they can't tell us where game is!.............BOB!
Big Tub Report post Posted January 24, 2015 Would have made a much better story if you got one. So many of those guys hunt and fish and they got really nice toys.
kidso Report post Posted January 24, 2015 Just knowing there was a herd of pigs down a certain wash or in a particular canyon is absolutely no guarantee you will tag one. But, it will give you a positive mental outlook for one thing....HOPE!

You might want to have your friend at the Nogales Station put in writing what he was told (and by whom) so you could send copies to the Game and Fish director and the five commissioners. Zeke-BE Report post Posted January 24, 2015 I would like to see that! Could you imagine game and fish officer coming up to a group of agents and give the person a citation. Rumors will spread through border patrol "can't trust game and fish". This is like a police officer pulling over a fire truck going 5 mph over the speed limit on a non call. The agent that helped me was doing their job, we just walked by and the agent told us where they last spotted them. Looked at the screen less than a minute and pointed them out. Even with their location we still couldn't find them. Thanks for the help BP and as always if I see illegals I'll call it in. Most BP agents I in counter where real nice. The few Game and Fish officers I've encounter treat you like a criminal ( never been ticketed for anything if anybody was wondering). I also had a friend witness a potential poaching and called it in, in the warden was treating him like he was a poacher and demanded certain answers and demanded that he met with him. He just told him; well this conversation makes me not want to ever call in and help you guys out.
HuntHarder Report post Posted January 24, 2015 I assume, which we all know what this could make me, that AZGF is telling the BP to not use infrared thermal imaging and tell hunters where the animals are. This is illegal and in their regs. I doubt that AZGF has a problem with border patrol telling guys where they see animals in general. On our last sheep hunt, I was encouraged by AZGF to talk to the BP in the area and get some of their knowledge about the animals in the area. I have no dog in this fight, just trying to interpret what was said already.
