Maverick351 Report post Posted January 1, 2015 So I am typically more of a spot and stalk guy. I'll be hunting unit 24a and 24b. Hopefully up in the Pinal mountain area or outside of Superior. I have a fully capable 4x4 so no worries there. My main concern is how is the hunting going to be in the snow? I cannot imagine it being very quiet trying to put on a stalk. It is my daughter's birthday coming up and I wanted to be able to take her out on a hunt as that is all she has asked for even though my wife and I will be the only ones hunting. Do you guys have any suggestions for me that may help? I am NOT looking for secret spots to go to just curious on what would be the best plan of attack for this.
PRDATR Report post Posted January 1, 2015 Well hunting in the snow provided it isn't frozen (crunchy) should be OK. It will be wet and the ground unstable and muddy. Just make sure you and yours have warm, waterproof boots.
Maverick351 Report post Posted January 2, 2015 Ok I have the water proof boots and gear to keep warm covered. With the rut going on right now do the deer act differently because of the snow? I'm aware of how they act because of the rut but not the snow.
25-06 Report post Posted January 2, 2015 Just go hunting. The rut is on and snow is not gunna stop em.

WHT_MTNMAN Report post Posted January 2, 2015 Snow is great...very quiet the first few days. Then very crunchy and tough to stalk but still can be done.
Snapshot Report post Posted January 2, 2015 Nice thing about snow if you shoot a buck, you can slide that sucker right down the mountain.
WHT_MTNMAN Report post Posted January 2, 2015 IMO best thing about killing in snow is the blood trail.
