cosninocanines Report post Posted January 1, 2015 I have researched this to death and found this article to be my choice in breaking in my new Tikka T3. http://www.rifle-accuracy-reports.com/barrel-break-in.html The one thing I'm having trouble with is finding LOCK-EEZ and wonder if it's the same as lock ease. It's a minor part but if I can find some I will use it. Any shooters know where I can find the product
sjvcon Report post Posted January 1, 2015 Get a Lucas Bore Guide like it says. They are the BEST. I skipped the Lock Ez part. Just dry patched it.
rcdinaz Report post Posted January 1, 2015 I am sure that this is the Lock-EZE mentioned. http://www.amazon.com/Lock-Ease-Graphite-Lock-Fluid-3-4/dp/B0006MWPZA If you look at the list of frequently bought together on Amazon products all of those mentioned in the article are on the list which tells me people are buying everything from your list via Amazon. Lock-ease, sweets, Iosso Personally I don't do all of this anymore. I have heard a lot of guys who almost never clean and have excellent shooting rifles especially in the AR world. Last barrel I paid a little more for a match barrel and called it good. Consider the article below from McMillan rifles. http://www.6mmbr.com/GailMcMbreakin.html

I only shoot 9 rounds cleaning after each shot for break-in.

I used to clean the living day lights out of all of them now I mess with them as little as poissible. None of the critters have complained.. not a word.
cosninocanines Report post Posted January 3, 2015 Thanks everybody! I have one rifle Ruger Model 70 7mag which I have shot at everything I've hunted since 1976 (Marlin 30-30 that I got for Christmas when I was 11 before that) and have no complaints. I sighted it in and went hunting, changed scopes sighted it in and went hunting. Started using factory ammo sighted it in and went hunting. Never a problem. But when I won this Tikka at the Mule Deer Foundation banquet I had this thought about what do shooters do and barrel breakin was a hot topic. Going back to my old school roots, keep em clean oiled and know where they shoot. Once again Thank You to all that replied!
