PRDATR Report post Posted January 1, 2015 Air quality stinks in Phoenix, always has and I've been here since 77. No reason to have a fireplace that is capable of burning anything other than Gas. I drive the 101 from the East Valley to I-17 every so often. The smoke from fireplaces never gets more than about 50' above the ground. Drive through the Verde Valley or Cottonwood where there is just a cloud of smoke. I would want to breathe that even when I was a smoker and sure would not want my kids breathing it either. muledeerarea33? Report post Posted January 1, 2015 Wood stove is cheap heat where needed, lots of folks don't have gas to their home and if they do its still not as warm or cheap as wood. Heating a Phoenix area home? Different story lol, it like 35-40 there? Maybe?
AZLance Report post Posted January 1, 2015 We took the gas out of our fireplace and had it converted back to wood burning... no reason to have a fire if you can't smell the wood burning...especially juniper.
Snapshot Report post Posted January 1, 2015 I haven't had a drink in 4 months, so no Bourbon for me. Unfortunately, the douchebags are mass producing in this country at an alarming rate.
1uglydude Report post Posted January 1, 2015 The County gets fined by the Feds for every day the air exceeds EPA standards. The fines they have to pay are quite steep. They automatically impose no burn days on days they expect regular burning will trigger a violation they have to pay. That means holidays. It sucks.
DesertBull Report post Posted January 1, 2015 Dont pay the fine. Obama ignores the law, so can we.

khmer6 Report post Posted January 1, 2015 It's cuz of the feds and state has to comply. I don't think any really gets fines for them. They just note what the address is and you get a letter in the mail. It's not about generating revenue, but more of keeping the grants and funding from the federal level to state budgets.
