Torque specs?

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry if this has been covered, I couldn't find it. I have never messed with it before but I want to make sure my new rifle is going to be torques right on all the screws. I have a remington 700 in a hs precision stock, egw base, and seekins rings.

Does anyone have a general square in pounds to torque to for the

-action screws

-base to the receiver

-and the top screws on the rings?

Thanx guys!

Action should be 45 to 65 in pounds

Base to receiver 15 to 20 in pounds

Ring screws 15 inch pounds

Make sure to clean your action screw holes out,(de-grease)and use medium lock tight on the screws. I also lock tight my ring screws. Your mileage may differ.

SOO TRUE 452b264.

I have found that before even mounting the rings to the base I take the top off the rings and clean the screw holes of the rings (& base) with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol. Works really well.
