cosninocanines Report post Posted December 9, 2014 Who will get to the border first? I've seen javelina in unit 10 and elk in 22 south, seems to me the best swimmers will make it to the border first.

4Falls Report post Posted December 9, 2014 Interesting topic. Elk have been witnessed on Mt. Graham. And decades ago didnt they find one dead near Gila Bend? Furthest north Ive heard of Javelina is unit 9. But it seems they could do well from Kingman north.
bigj23 Report post Posted December 9, 2014 The one in Gila Bend was alive. It was pulled from the Gila River when it was running.

jim Report post Posted December 9, 2014 There are alot of pigs in 10. I have also seen them at meaview so they are pretty close to the northern border. I have seen Javelina on the 25 road in 27 just under the lookout tower in January.
Heat Report post Posted December 9, 2014 Not sure which border you are referring to, but both are on the move for sure. Javelina have made it as far west as the Yuma Foothills. Heard from Game and Fish WMs that they were on the golf course at Mesa Del Sol recently. The elk near Poston AZ was covered on this site earlier this fall and there is the story of the elk mentioned above from Gila Bend many years back is pretty darn far south as well. mpriest Report post Posted December 9, 2014 I've heard reports of pigs on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Must be wintering in the side canyons I guess
billrquimby Report post Posted December 9, 2014 In the early 1970s, a train killed several cow elk near Bowie. After that, there were several reports of elk being seen in the Chiricahuas. Bill Quimby
