longshooter Report post Posted January 20, 2015 It doesn't matter what you use.Just hit them where your suppose to. There is a lot of truth to that statement. I shot a good bull while hunting with elkaddict this last year with a brand new g5 striker fixed head broadhead. Shot him down hill right behind the shoulder at 62 yards. The arrow blew thru him and we all thought the bull was a dead bull. He ran 100 plus yards and stood there while we were able to get video of him. After 10 minutes, he walked off with a blood trail that dried up quickly to never be found again. Here is a pic off the video. The entrance was on his right side and if you look closely you can see the exit behind his shoulder.
Elkhunter1 Report post Posted January 20, 2015 This is what one can expect from the Swhacker broadhead. Her spine was completely severed and the head is ready for the next unsuspecting TASTY big game animal.
lancetkenyon Report post Posted January 20, 2015 I'm old school. Fixed blade for me. Cut on contact blades too. I like Steel Force broadheads myself. Although I also shoot Muzzy depending on what I am after.
Maverick351 Report post Posted January 20, 2015 For me it depends on what I'm hunting. Elk is the only animal I hunt that I'd use a fixed blade on. I do agree that fixed bladed never fail. However with the speed today's bows are shooting getting the accuracy out of a fixed blade at longer distances can be tough. Most mechanical heads work exceptionally well and accurate as they have less blade open to plane at high speeds. I shoot Ulmer Edge and Shuttle T and Wac em heads. I have heard many good things about the Rage Hypodermic heads. I test my broadheads at 100yards and VERY FEW fly tru at fast speeds and that distance but the ones I've chosen workwwell for me and my set up.

mulie hunter Report post Posted January 20, 2015 Slick trick 100 grain magnum I have killed elk, deer, javelina with them and they fly great! They leave a awesome exit wound! I just bought some Slick trick nukes mechanical broadheads. Might try them out on deer this year.
Presmyk Report post Posted January 21, 2015 Ulmer edge. Flies just like a field tip for me! Plus for a mechanical it gets great penetration. I also like the GD and Swhackers. What ever you go with make sure to take time to practice. Don't just by a broadhead because someone says it flies like a field point, then screw it on, and hunt without ever shooting it. Lots of good choices out there! Hope you find the one that works for you! another good idea would just make sure bow is in tune so can shoot any head instead of using a mechanical head for a band aid witch will still not perform to full potential out of a out of tuned rig any ways. But 75% of "bow hunters" will grab there bow out of case week or 2 before season run to wally world and grab a pack of rage lol they "expand your kill zone"!!!! And come with "get your game or money back guarantee" lol

ThomC Report post Posted January 21, 2015 Go to Archerytalk.com. You will be able to read opinions on this subject till the season is over. But, there are no clear answers. It probably matters more that you make a good shot.
capoeirajosh Report post Posted January 22, 2015 I was having issues deciding what broadheads to go with as well. Fixed or mechanical. Once I found out about Gravedigger, it was a no brainer.
