IdahoCoues Report post Posted May 28, 2003 I was wondering if any of you have a good site to download topo maps of hunt units. The unit I hunt has limited access, but loaded with BLM ground. I just want to be prepared, and not hunt private land by mistake. I live in Idaho, and our local BLM office is helpful, but slow. Thanks. Craig.
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted May 28, 2003 Try Topozone.com for free, downloadable topo maps. Also, I very much recommend MyTopo.com for creating your own topo maps. You custom center them anywhere you want and they fold up small. They are printed on waterproof, tear resistant paper. You can create the map online and then they ship it to you very quickly. I have used them for a couple years now, they work great. Click on the MyTopo.com logo on my main page and it will take you there and if you purchase anything a portion of the proceeds goes to this site. Also, if you use topos alot, you may want to buy the state version of the National Geographic topo program. I use that one a ton and find it's excellent. You can read more about them in my bookstore. Wyorawhide Report post Posted June 22, 2003 Here is a place that I use pre scouting an area. You get actual ariel photos of the area. It comes in handy. The only drawback is that I don't have a 30" screen for my computer. http://terraserver.microsoft.com/default.aspx I also use topozone.com to look at maps.
