Shedhunteraz Report post Posted November 24, 2014 Yes severe. Etodolac is the only thing that helped me. I blew out L4 5 and S1. Had surgery but still deal with it everyday. That med and a stim machine is what keeps me hunting
Snapshot Report post Posted November 24, 2014 Have had it for 25 years, and live in pain everyday. Somedays are worse, and some not so bad. I need surgery, but I refuse to enroll in Obamacare. I've been through therapy, chiropractic, ultrasound. electroshock. I try and stay away from drugs and meds'. sometimes my legs will go partially numb, and tingly. I am very intrigued with the Laser Spine Institute, however, I don't have the moola to do it.
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted November 24, 2014 Yep. Been seeing a chiroprator for the past few weeks. Think I slipped my hip out doing dead lifts a couple months ago... last time I'll be going 400#+.... Speaking of, my leg and foot is tingling.
beerhugger Report post Posted November 24, 2014 I had a back problem for over a year. My L5 was bulging causing severe sciatica. I saw a pain specialist and had 10 epidural injections over the course of about a year. I was beginning to wonder if they were going to work, but the last 3 seemed to knock it out. I've been pain free ever since. Do yourself a favor and get an MRI and see a good pain specialist (if you haven't done so already).

I am very intrigued with the Laser Spine Institute, however, I don't have the moola to do it. My mother-in-law visited them and it was crazy expensive. She ended up having the same procedure done by a "regular" back surgeon in Tucson for a fraction of the cost. Do as I said above, get an MRI and see what's going on, it's only going to get worse. I hope you find relief one day
Snapshot Report post Posted November 24, 2014 Another option is the Bumrungrad hospital in Bangkok Thailand. One of the top international hospitals in the world. You can get quality care for considerably less than the USA. I have checked into it, but you can't get a cost analysis unless you visit a specialist there. As soon as my winning lottery numbers payoff, I will be all over it.

Snapshot Report post Posted November 24, 2014 You can also get a sciatica brace. It is like a back brace, but it tightens around the lower lumbar area and keeps the area tightened up to help relieve discomfort. I have one in my truck for when I need it.
copencoues Report post Posted November 24, 2014 My Wife had this pain for four years, sent her to The Laser Spine Institute in Houston TX. Her pain was gone the next day and it has not returned, that was a year ago in October. With insurance the cost was very low, cost more for the rental car and hotel then it did for the procedure. You have to be there for 5 days. Only down fall is she now has nerve pain in her right foot, but she still says it was a worthy trade.
biglakejake Report post Posted November 24, 2014 during recovery from my right knee replacement in 2012 I started having severe sciatic symptoms. for 2 years it nearly ruined my life, weight increase and lost work hours being the most severe results. 2014 was a rebound year-almost pain free until I took the tin boat out in October and was laid up for 48 hours after only 2 hours in the boat. hadn't had it out all year because of trying to sell it. i'm a stupid old man but I made the connection and have been pain free since. so now I never sit on any low seat, stump, rock or stool-and no tin boats at all-for more than a few seconds. I put a lot of stress on the nerve batting and playing softball apx 8 hrs a week with no ill effects so I agree exercise is good therapy. good luck sir, lee ps see thread 'gregor tin boat for sale' lol
cohofishing Report post Posted November 24, 2014 I know this sounds silly but if you just pinched your nerve, you can stretch out your hips and relieve the pain. I googled it and found a stretch that works the hip area and it works for me. I do it now daily but if my lower back starts hurting, I will do it a couple times a day. If you get the western hunter mag, they talk about the stretch I use in the new issue. They call it "sitting on your hips".
