deserthunter23 Report post Posted July 29, 2004 I know this is for us coues hunters ,but we all hunt what we can when we can ,especially this year.I didnt get to draw any of the coues tags I put in for but did buy some tags on the San Carlos reservation.one coues tag(nov),one turkey tag(nov),and one bear tag(aug).the bear tag is in unit C and runs Aug 7th thru 22nd.Was a big investment, but am glad due to the lack of any other tags this year.Long story short,I would appreciate any help anyone would like to offer up,not wanting anyones honey holes, just some guidance and direction.I am a working guy with not alot of time to scout. Also anyone from Gobe or Safford let me know if youve seen any prickly pear fruit growth yet.hope its ok to post this, even if not about coues. bullwidgeon Report post Posted July 29, 2004 (edited) Steve, Check out the pear flats along the R-100 border, airplane mountain and bonita creek. If that don't work look at the Nantac and then the Black River. If you haven't found a bear after checking all that out, then pack up and go home because if your luck fails you that bad in those awesome bear infested spots then you have no hope of ever finding a bear no matter where you go. Good luck... Bret M. Edited January 1, 1970 by bullwidgeon
.270 Report post Posted July 29, 2004 is C still the southeast corner of the rez? i've never seen a lot of bears on airplane. in fact, can only remember seeing one. but did kill a huge one on state land not too far from there. the nantac or maybe over around park creek would be a good place for sure. is point of pines in your area? some jokers shot one on our picnic table at point of pines lake, when i was a kid. same jackasses shot one in a trap too. one of those big barrel deals on wheels that they live trap and transport em in. real hunters. elkmaniac Report post Posted July 29, 2004 Looks like a bumper year for fruit on the pears again this year in the Safford area. Already getting big and red. Good thing we dont have to draw a bear tag cause as brutal as the draw was for me this year, I would have probably been blanked on that too. Good luck.
