What is the best tactics

I have the the late archery hunt in 4a. Does anybody have any tactics type like to use for this late hunt? As of now I plan to glass in the mornings and sit water in the afternoons.

Find high points, look down, the elk bed on ridges midday go slow take your time and stay patient

I like the close quarters stuff. Sneak into their bedding area and shoot them in thick cover. You will never forget the sound of a stampede.

I have a late archery bull hunt in a different unit. I will spotting and stalking.

4a has very limited high points to glass from. This would be my preferred tactic but good to have other options.

I tend to pick a random area and just stumble around aimlessly till I bump into some elk. The elk then promptly leave the unit I'm hunting.

 

My other tried and true method is to sit a pre determined water hole that is only being used by cattle, mule deer does or turkeys. You will need to sit all day and think only of how the elk are swimming around in that other tank you scouted. You know the one with NO sign on it at all.

 

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but obviously I'm not very good at these late season archery hunts.
