Face, head ears, body size etc. Plus, how do you know know he glassed it up bedding and not watched him bed, made his move and killed him? Oh, I know, you're ASSuming. I agree with Casey. That you have to bring that issue up while referencing the AGFD pictures means you are probably uncomfortable doing it yourself. There was no question about what species of deer I was looking at. 100% grey ghost. He was 100% grey ghost the first time I saw him two years ago also. Why so quick with the WTF? I'm asking a valid question. AZG&F shows the overlap of mule deer and whitetail everywhere in the state whitetail exist. During AZ Hunter's Education courses we are also taught the importance of identification. There are a lot of other ways to tell the species of deer other than tail. Ears and coloration on their head and face are two of the more obvious ones. Take a look at a picture of the face of a mule deer vs coues and you'll see what I'm talking about. I was just commenting on how many times I have heard people in this forum say they shot him in his bed. A couple years ago my son took a nice mule deer in 6A. We saw him bedded and watched him for three hours until he stood up only because we also watch coues in the same area. sidwynder505 Report post Posted November 12, 2014 Hey Creed!....that is one awesome buck you put down!!...im like you!! i'd reather put a deer to bed then take him out!! ..its hard for it to move at the last minute or its going to stay still so you can take your time to put it down the best way!!....and if you spend enough time behind bino's until your eyes feel like they are going to bleed you can tell the what a mule deer looks like or what a whitetail looks like!!...however if you dont feel comfortable then you wait until you can be 100% what your looking at!!..it comes down to the hunter!...thats all!!....you did a B@DA$$ job!!
