COOSEFAN Report post Posted March 21, 2007 You guys wouldn't beleive how many people I know that have drawn QUALITY tags this year that have had the same tag or similar in the last three years! I know two guys that have their second Rifle Antelope tag in three years! I really would like to see G+F set a rule where you could not apply for a QUALITY tag ( Early Bull, Rifle Antelope) for 3 - 5 years after you successfully draw a QUALITY tag. There are so many people out there that have gone alot of years since their last quality tag........and there are alot of guys out there that draw quality tags all the time........I know it's the luck of the draw, but maybe they can make it a little more fair this way. Just my $.

HE JUST GOT ANOTHER EARLY RIFLE TAG FOR BULL ................AND...i repeat........"AND"....another RIFLE 'LOPE TAG. I forgot to mention, he also had a DESERT SHEEP tag two years ago.......same year as the rifle 'lope tag! I guess i'm happy for him... I wouldn't mind one bit if they made a waiting period.....say 3-5 years that you would have to wait AFTER successfully drawing a QUALITY tag..........would make it a little more fair! Oh...by the way...G+F told him and several other guys I know, that the results won't be out until mid-week NEXT week. The draw results are SUPPOSED to be supplied to G+F on MONDAY and then they will load it up. This is just what they are sayin'.............really doesn't mean it's true Jorge Gonzales Coosefan, I completely agree with you. I am very happy for anyone that has this kind of draw luck, but it is also hard to swallow having 16 bonus points for lope and never drawing a lope tag. I am starting to lose hope as my card has not been hit. I guess I will have to wait another year. Bonus points dont mean sqwat......

COOSEFAN Report post Posted March 21, 2007 Bonus points only mean somethin' when either you have " 0 ".....beginners luck........or if you have MAX, but if you have MAX points, you still don't have a good chance if you are putting in for an Early Bull tag.....and MAX points doesn't mean sqwat if you are putting in for Rifle 'Lope or Sheep. The way it works is if you build up points and then SETTLE for putting a hunt 1st choice that you normally would put 3rd, then you have good chance, but it's not the hunt you really wanted. dave Report post Posted March 21, 2007 300 WSM, I think that is a reasonable request. Many have asked for a waiting period but the Department is against that because they would lose revenue from everyone putting in and thinking they can draw every year. Fairness does not seem to be as much of a consideration as money. I am not sure 50% is the right number but something better than what we have now should be done. Other states have a larger max bonus point pool and it would be interesting to study the results from those states. With other states using a larger max bunus point pool % it gives more credibility to considering the idea. The thing the Department will like about it is that it will not curve their revenue. It may actually increase it. If I were a non-resident that wanted to apply for a tag in Arizona, I would have to buy a license every year. It would be good to know that after so many years I would be able to reach the max pool.
Kilimanjaro Report post Posted March 21, 2007 this state is by far the WORST state in the country for drawing a tag.. I agree 100% with you Jim.. If you draw a quality tag, you wait and let others have a chance at a tag.. 5 year wait.. no exceptions. This random draw crap is as worthless as tits on a bull.. I mean how can you have someone with ZERO points draw a tag over someone with MAX points?? That is just plain stupid. I put more stock in myself winning the lottery than actually getting to have an elk hunt in this state before I leave. All the more reason I want to go to Montana.. 3 or 4 years and you've got a good bull tag in your pocket.. And I think I'll be put on the moon before I get a sheep tag here. BUT, if ya don't play, you'll never win!! I'll continue to give my money to the screwed-up system here in AZ to at least have that miniscule chance to be put into the game for once.. You are right COOSEFAN, Bogus points mean very little unless you are in the max pool. If you study the math, they are all most worthless. So are you guys happy to hear about the guys that draw bull tags three years in a row? I say leave the Casinos on the res and let fairness play a bigger part. Fairness does not seem to be as much of a consideration as money. One solution may be to determine quality hunts and prevent people from putting in for 5 years after being drawn for only these hunts, then one could put in for the "non-quality" hunts or cow tags. Or allow bounus points to still be purchased during the 5 year waiting period. Then the G&F don't lose the $7.50. Redman
Coues 'n' Sheep Report post Posted March 21, 2007 A buddy of mine and his Dad drew early archry bull tags and they had late archery bull tags last year!! I am happy for them and I drew a tag as well so I am not whining...... but I agree with the waiting system of 3yrs after drawing a tag..... bonus point only. COOSEFAN Report post Posted March 21, 2007 I'm always happy for my buddies when they draw tags.....at least I know the tag will get used and most likely on a good critter. When buddies draw tags.......that means I get to go hunting regardless! It still sucks though for the guys that have alot more points!

jnobleinaz Report post Posted March 21, 2007 I agree to a extent. My brother and I drew archery bull tags in either 2 quality units and I have two friends that also drew. the only difference is I had a cow tag last year and they haven't been drawn for 10 years. But saying that there are a lot of people out there that put in for once in a lifetime tags every year and then complain about not being drawn. I drew an antelope tag last year but it was muzzleloader. I am now putting in for archery only. I drew an early rifle tag in 03 and a strip tag in 03. I haven't put in for either since. That was a total once in a million year. Now I just plan on maybe drawing a tag every few years. But I have been very lucky. I just think that you choose your own game and play the odds. But don't complain if you are applying for these crazy tags. my wife thinks that this is normal to draw tags every year. But we did draw 36b late hunt last year so I know I have nothing to complain about. i will continue to play odds. It's like a friend of mine (no lie) who when we were in Laughlin 13 years ago started playing roulette with 100 dollars and by the end of a six hour turn he walked out with $13,000.00. Don't ask me why I didn't follow his bets. They were fricken crazy. After seeing that I believe anything is possible.......... just remember we are all Redneks just looking for a vacation
