PRDATR Report post Posted November 8, 2014 So about 10 years ago I bought my young son a Tikka 695 in 30.06 and it is a great gun. Shoots MOA with factory ammo (because I'm too lazy to breakout the reloading stuff). The first scope it wielded was a 2-7X Leupold VX1. A few years ago I put a used 3-10X Zeiss Conquest on it I bought off of CWT. He told me today he would like a new scope, mo powa too and he told he was looking at a (ahem-puke) Vortex Crossfire. I took a deep breath and told him I would see what Camera Land has. Then I let him look through a Zeiss HD Conquest I got from Neil last year and told him I would sell off the Conquest and an older VXll 4x12 to finance a new scope. Now, I see this as my big chance to step up and upgrade the HD on my 700 by buying a Schmidt and Bender with some Warne Quick release rings and when he isn't looking I can do the ole switcheroo in the field. Works for me. I have Talley Lightweight 1" rings on his rig now. What do you think about going to 34mm? Care to recommend a scope from 3-18X? He thinks he wants one with multiple reticles but after using the Zeiss with the RZ800 reticle I'm not so sure it is for him since you are supposed to keep it on 13X, at least for the load in my 7Mag. I'd like to keep this under $1500. What are your thoughts? Another Zeiss, Leupy VX6? Huskema? I need to move on this in the next few days to get it sighted in for our hunt in less than 3 weeks. rcdinaz Report post Posted November 8, 2014 The Zeiss is a great scope. You can always run iStrelok and tape he reticle on the stock with the distances cranked all the way up. If you want to go the way of turrets and learn how to use them then the Swaro is out although I really like the system they have but it gets pricey. Check out the Zeiss with the turrets or Sightron. A lot of other good options but both of these are lighter than most of the others. i looked at a bunch of them for my daughter so I am going through the same exercise .

lancetkenyon Report post Posted November 8, 2014 For about $800, look at the SWFA SS HD 3-15X42 FFP w. mil reticle. Or for the $1500, you can jump up to the 5-20x50 SWFA SS HD FFP. I love mine.
