6A was a blank for me. Hunted both flats and pinions. Only saw two bucks. Do I admit a mistake I made that cost me my deer though. I guess I just did. One to many moves and he saw me.

Don't feel bad. You got experience for the next time. I hunted my butt off in 7 yesterday and never saw a single deer. Could of shot 60 squirrels though.

Sorry to hear. When we were driving up to 5A last Thursday afternoon I was shocked to see a nice 4x4 feeding along the fence line in 6A a mile or two after cresting the rim, I was worried he would be the only buck we saw but was lucky enough to see one more. Got skunked there a few years ago after finding a dozen bucks during our scouting trips, its a great unit so don't give up on it and it will provide you with one sometime.

All part of hunting.

Did you get an adrenaline rush? It was a success.

Did you enjoy God's country? It was a success.

Did you have a good time? It was a success.

Did you get out of the hustle and bustle? It was a success.

Did you learn anything for next time? It was a success.

Same for me in 23. I saw everything but a buck worth taking. Ran in to four cows at 20 yards, they finally notice me when the camera shutter sound on my phone made a noise while taking their picture. Gave them a cow call and all four stared me down trying to figure out what I was. Pretty funny watching the head twists and turns. We found a cow elk that was killed by a lion while climbing down off the rim. The blood was still pooled in the body cavity. The lion tried to hide it by covering it up with forest debris and the cows fur. First time I have ever seen anything like that. The elk where gong crazy. Heard the bugles, horns crashing, tree trashing, and the cows setting it all off. Saw a nice 5x5 running back to the res after mixing it up with another bull. Makes you wonder how big the other bull was.

As you noted Lance, it was a success. Someday the prize will come with all the hard work.

Pstrman, we'll get'em next time. The experience and memories are worth more than a set of horns but it sure would be nice to finally accomplish the mission.

Found a steaming lion kill and didn't try to hunt it? I dream of of that situation and has to be pretty big lion to take down a elk!!!

I was in 23 as well. We made a few mistakes as to general areas.... but all in all I was an amazing trip.

Found a coyote skull, still intact. A bear skull. (only had one canine tooth left though), Had one guy's son trick or treat the three of us in camp (repeatedly, was okay for the first few rounds...eventually his dad just dumped his bag into Christian's so . the game could be over). Found some remnants of buildings that were in plain sight that we've been missing for years. a few whitetail doe, an amazing charcoal grey mule deer doe,....

but the most frustrating thing of the hunt of all ..... fidning 12 turkey that were right in easy access, along the roadside tha we couldn't find a race of when we were there for turkey at the start of the month
