goinhuntn Report post Posted November 2, 2014 Hello everyone I usually do not complain much, but this PISSES me off!! I spend a lot of time in unit 8 as it is one of my favorite units last weekend my father and I went for a weekend camping trip to check out some new country and could not believe what we seen. We camped down low on FR 492 outside of Drake we were down near the Verde river in what looked to be a very popular camping spot and could not believe all the garbage left behind someone even brought a sofa & recliner & left it next to a firepit. We picked up beer cans and bottles everywhere. we drove around on a lot of the different roads, and of course found more beer cans and bottles thrown out of vehicles. Picked up what we could. We drove up into the pines on Perkinsville road picking up beer cans along the way mind you we were supposed to be scouting new country. We went to one of our favorite spots on FR 127 where there there are several nice camping spots upon going in there is a nice big spot as you first go up the road and there left in the firepit was someones frame from an easy up we did not have room in the ranger or we would of hauled that out to. I DON;T UNDERSTAND IF YOU BROUGHT IT WHY CAN'T YOU HAUL IT AWAY!!!! I am from Arizona but unfortunately living in communist California due to work,it sickens me the lack of respect people have for such a beautiful area. I can only wish to be living in Arizona where there is a lot more freedom to enjoy the outdoors. If people continue to disrespect and thrash it will end up like Cali where everything is getting closed or off limits!!! PEOPLE PLEASE PICK UP YOUR TRASH I enjoy the time I spend in the Arizona outdoors as much as I can, and do not want to lose the privelage because of a few disrespectful A$$HOLES. I will heading up again in the middle of November for some more exploring, and will be bringing a couple of cases of trash bags because I do not want my favorite hunting area destroyed by LOW LIFE SCUMBAGS. I am going to talk to fish & game to see if they will help me plan a weekend cleanup in the near future if anyone is interested. Sorry for the rant, but thanks for listening!!
bhuntin Report post Posted November 2, 2014 Anywhere near water, probably ruined..fossil creek best example..pretty soon there will no access to these areas...and I am ok with that, pigs are pigs. I would rather hike in and enjoy pristine anything than what I can drive 20 minutes from my house and stumble through.... shoot!! People who can excrement 5 feet from their tent and cook table are never going to clean up! Sorry its hard not swear and get worked up about this thread

ctafoya Report post Posted November 2, 2014 I noticed this in 24a on friday. Took my boys out for their hunt, and we made a collective decision to go home and never put in for the early hunts in that unit again. Had a guy in front of us chucking beer cans and flicking cigarette butts purposely roosting us while we were trying to get out of the overcrowded area. If i didn't have my boys with me things would have got ugly. Beer cans and bottles all over the road. Trash everywhere and a holes on utv,s flying all over the place. We were glad to be out hunting, but from now on we will go after quality hunts and not just settle for a hunt.
Snapshot Report post Posted November 2, 2014 We all know who to thank for overcrowded units.
goinhuntn Report post Posted November 2, 2014 Thanks for reading my post guys I don't know what is wrong with people nowadays!! I mean I don't consider myself that old 46, but to have the lack of respect for our outdoors just blows me away!! I just don't understand why people can't pick their sh*t up!!! I drive 6+ hours to unit 8 for pristine country only to find trash UNBELIEVABLE!!
goinhuntn Report post Posted November 2, 2014 Snapshot no disrespect, but this has nothing to do with overcrowded units its about people who just don't give a sh*t!!
wildwoody Report post Posted November 2, 2014 there is a group of people who believe out of sight and out of mind. my question is where the heck is the U.S Forest service law inforcement, maybe they should get off the highway and back into the woods. my opinion
Snapshot Report post Posted November 2, 2014 Snapshot no disrespect, but this has nothing to do with overcrowded units its about people who just don't give a sh*t!! Misunderstanding. I was commenting on Ctafoya's comment about his unit. It is a shame that people disrespect the land. Hunters, and non-hunters alike. I've seen it for over 40 years of hunting and it has increased exponentially with the slob society. Kudos to you for picking some of it up.
Zeke-BE Report post Posted November 2, 2014 If there are any Boy Scouts or fathers who have Boy Scouts and need a Eagle project contact the forest service and get your eagle service project and help do a clean up. I know this doesn't solve our issue but it helps those boys getting their Eagle to have a very good project and help out the Forrest.
azphil Report post Posted November 2, 2014 Nothing wrong with using an Atv/utv to get where you are going to hunt. I make it a point to stop and pick up road trash while riding. We also make sure our campsite is cleaner than when we got there. We all need to do more than our part even though there are slobs and vandals out there who don't care. These fools are why ranchers deny access and authorities keep imposing more and more regs. Take down license #'s , camp locations and turn them in.
Guest 300ultramag. Report post Posted November 3, 2014 People do it on purpose to get forests shut down.. And then they shut them down... I find it extremely entertaining that this happens.. Instead of enforcing the law they buy a lock and a gate... It's called understaffed and instead if hiring more people they pull this sh1t.. that's how they save gold coins... The state and fed love them gold coins... And all of us get to watch it happen... But hey go to meetings and tell them how you feel... That'll change things
daryl_s Report post Posted November 3, 2014 When I read the title I was expecting to see a picture of the type of buck that Tines or Becker always kill. I couldn't agree with you more. It is totally mind boggling to me that people wouldn't leave a place in as nice or better condition than when they got there. I think most of it has to do with how they were raised. I'm very appreciative that my dad taught me the right way and I try to do the same with my kids.
