PatrickJr Report post Posted October 27, 2014 A couple of great friends, Andy Behrens and his stepson, Orlando Martinez-Behrens had whitetail tags for 36b, I know Orlando had been eagerly wait for this hunt to come as he had his pack and his hunting clothes set out, ready to go , a week before the hunt started! He just turned 10 earlier this month! I unfortunately had to miss opening day but they went out and found a couple bucks but could never get close enough for a shot. On Saturday morning, we went out to a spot that Andy has named "10 minute Canyon" (you will see why). We began glassing and found a few deer on this huge hillside, when Andy decided to walk over to "10 Minute". Shortly after, i went over to another point to glass some flats. I was not 2 minutes into glassing when i get a call from Andy and he says, "GET THE GUN, I HAVE 2 BUCKS OVER HERE AND THEY"RE WALKING AWAY!!!" I run back to the truck, grad the gun, ammo and Orlando (Lando). Andy calls this "10 minute Canyon" because he has gone in there multiple times and within 10 minutes of glassing, he finds bucks. This time it only took 8.5 minutes! Once over by Andy, we reacquire the 2 bucks. I stayed back at 600 yards while they stalked in. I texted Andy and asked him if he could tell me when Lando was about to shoot and i never got a text back but was greeted by a gunshot about a minute later. I watched the deer through my spotter and the deer dropped like a ton of bricks and went rolling down the hill! Lando had his very first deer! The shot ended up being at 225 yards! Later that day, we found quite a few deer, and found one shooter for Andy but it was just at the end of shooting light. Now onto Sunday, we glassed from a knob and only found does and stompers. we then moved to another spot where Andy found a group of 3 bucks. It took a wile but we got in on them, then they bedded. We were 290 yards from them. As we were getting ready to get closer, Buddha (another friend) looked and told us that the deer were up and running! Andy threw his pack down and jumped into a prone position. One deer was very gray and the other was really orange. Buddha and I told Andy to shoot the 2nd one as he was the biggest, but Andy never saw both deer. Buddha started whistling to stop them and they weren't reacting, our buddy back at the trucks thought we were pointed the wrong was so he yelled from almost a mile away "THEY'RE GOING TO YOUR RIGHT!!!!!!" The buck heard that and stopped, then Andy just dropped him! Both hunters are happy to have tagged out and filled their freezer. I had a fantastic time helping out with friends, I made some new great friends, and of course made some even better memories! I hope everyone stays safe and good luck out there!

1uglydude Report post Posted October 28, 2014 and i did have permission to post this Awesome! Something you may want to consider, even though you have permission to post it, you gave everyone the kid's FULL name and birthday, including the year. You may want to go back and edit out some of that. Just some friendly advice.
