azcouesandelk Report post Posted March 14, 2007 This is a picture of a gravel bar off of the Kachatina River. We could only fish this river when we were in low water and this was our only way to get to our "tent camp".
azcouesandelk Report post Posted March 15, 2007 Alright this is the lodge dog. He has got to be one of the top 5 stupidest animals on the planet. He runs into walls for fun and tried to play with a cub black bear when mama was there. Funny sight watching him run away and hiding under the lodge. His name is "Tiny" also seems to fit him well. azcouesandelk Report post Posted March 17, 2007 Sorr yI am posting late tonight guys or should I say Jim This is a picture of a creek that only 15 people have ever fished it is a 2 hour boat ride from the lodge then a 5 mile pack in through swamp land. Me and one of the other guides were the very first people EVER to fish this creek that anyone knows of. Some of the biggest grayling are in this creek and I was able to catch all 5 species of salmon in one day in this creek.

azcouesandelk Report post Posted March 18, 2007 Made it by 15 minutes today. Had to work all day putting all new waterlines in the frontyard. Big pain in the behind. Anyways here is the picture today. It is of the Yenlo Hills from the lodge itself. This was taken later in the summer when the temps were starting to get down into the 40's at night. Never thought I would use the word summer and 40's together
azcouesandelk Report post Posted March 18, 2007 C'mon, only people ever to fish there? J/K, great pics keep em coming. Jason it doesnt seem realistic and I thought the lodge owner was full of you know what when he said this but in all reality it was either a 5 hour boat ride from Anchorage with the 5 mile hike in or the 2 hour boat ride with the 5 mile hike in. There is no place to land a helicopter in the area also because there is to much brush. I really wish everybody could be standing in the middle of the creek there with the spruce and alders making a tunnel for almost a mile up that creek. Absolutely breath taking walking through it and the only openings to the creek are bear trails. I miss it already

azcouesandelk Report post Posted March 18, 2007 You guys get a double today. With all the talk about sheds I thought I would throw in a couple pics of one of the several moose sheds I found. I was happy to find this shed after hiking close to 3 miles upstream from where everybody else fished and this was on a gravel bar. A little old and busted up but I liked how unique is was. Here is how I spotted it ( ad to move a little bit to get a better picture) Here is a closeup of it

josh Report post Posted March 20, 2007 Man the pics are great it brings back many great memories of being on the Hoholitna river in Alaska. I use to go every year for the month of August caribou hunting and fishing. Hard to beat salmon that a half hour after you catch it it is going down your throat. Looks like a great time keep the pics and stories coming. You finding that shed brings back memories of glassing up dozens of caribou and moose sheds a day and not even wanting to get them because there were so many.Take care Josh
