.270 Report post Posted March 8, 2007 dang, i was afraid i was the only that thought that away. you guys that agree with me have some problems. even the best of the west has some phoney crap on it. like how they put the balloons out there at 500 yards and bust em. if you notice, they always tape em to a piece of steel. all they have to do is hit the steel. the bullet blows up and pops the balloon. i have tivo. i can rewind and slomo it and it shows up plain as heck. i watched a guy bust a balloon at 200 yards, offhand, with a 2" .38 special last night that way. he hit about a foot and half below it on a sheet of steel and popped. if he had said he was gonna hit the steel, i'da been impressed, but for him to act like he hit the balloon really made it phony. this was not on best of the west. but last week i saw the midget cowboy singer sneak up to the camera, trying to make shooting a bison exciting. c'mon, a bison? not much work to shoot one with a long range sniper gun. not a tame one anyway. this is the kinda stuff that allen warren does. these guys are 'sposeta be pros. and last night i watched it and they were giving tips on shooting with a scope and finding your target quickly. that's all fine, but they showed the guy shoot at the same rock a couple different times. first time he busted it. second time he missed. somehow the rock got put back together. it was real phoney and really yanked me off for em to think i'm stupid enough to fall for their crap. guess i'll hafta just watch the rifleman and gunsmoke to see a shootin' show. the shootin' on them is just as real as the stuff on the hunting shows. singleshot Report post Posted March 8, 2007 I was excited to get the outdoor channel a couple of years ago but soon found that the only show I liked was Primos and that guy who's show was called the " Do it yourself hunter ". He was pretty hardcore, no guides, all foot hunting, tent camps etc. Much like most of us. We turned off the satellite about 18 months ago because of all the other crap that is on TV. The kids were watching shows on MTV like Jacka... and all that other crap. I miss the news sometimes, National Geographic, and the weather channel. My father hated hunting video's from the time they first became popular, refused to watch them, or the outdoor channel. He stands firm in his own belief that " HUNTING IS NOT A SPECTATOR SPORT". Makes you think doesn't it.
azryan Report post Posted March 8, 2007 im with lark on this one too......most hunting shows are just a bunch of bs....alls i do is shake my head when i see some of these shows but the only reason they are on tv is because of the money. no one cares about portraying how hunting should be....thats y I dont watch these dang shows.just too fake it is ridiculous...but like i said before its all about the money...just like the AZGFD but what can you do you can try and stop it but some good that will do unless you have a lot of money. go out and experience it yourself
mattys281 Report post Posted March 8, 2007 Thanks. You guys just confirmed that I make the right choice by not wasting my money on cable, satelite or whatever the new thing is. I'd rather be outside.
