best cooler canyon or yeti

Recommended Posts

Love my yeti have the 65q thinking about getting a bigger one tho. Always put the food in the yeti n ice usually stays for a few days the more you open it the more the cold air comes out. But it still keeps stuff cold put a frozen turkey bottles of water n sodas and sandwiches on a road trip. Grabbed a sad out of it and it was half frozen n drove all the way to Missouri the turkey was still frozen when we got there. I vote yeti bit be prepared to fork out money like everyone says.

I have a canyon and it is a great cooler, mine has the old latches which are a big weak point but the new ones are really good. That being said when I looked at them the Pelican and Yeti seem to be made a little better. All of them are built like tanks so they will last a long time. We really only got a couple years out of the big igloos before the latches and drain plugs went and another couple years before they get bent out of shape and the lids dont close well.

Buy a Colman extreme and call it good. Igloos suck and break after a year, and all the others cost to much. I don't want to worry about my cooler being stolen. Plus they are a lot lighter and I've never seen where they keep ice longer. If I was to buy a nice one, it would be an Engle.

Igglloo barely keeps the beer cold..............BOB!

I didn't think folks where your at used coolers, just threw it in the truck bed and defrosted on the intake manifold in the morning haha!
We use them to keep the beer from freezing!

That's no joke. When I worked in ND I used ice chests wrapped in sleeping bags to keep my food from freezing.

I have spent 26 days out since the middle of August I use the 60 and 110 igloo I freeze a couple cases of water bottles and some of

the 2 liter bottles of water they are still half frozen after 8 or 9 days and meat is still frozen after 4-5 days I put them in the shade and put a tarp and sleeping bag

on top I would guess I have used the 110 for the last 10 years don't know why it would wear our after 2 years if you take care of it, I am really hard on my camping equipment but i would guess my big ice chest has seen at least 500 days of use.I have tried to talk myself into a high dollar chest but I don't think they are worth the cost.Hinges will break but a piece of garden hose will fix this.

You guys with the Canyon and Yeti how long does your meat stay frozen?

Never tried but I can do a cwt science experiment. A Block of ice didn't even seen to melt last time I had the yeti out over the weekend.

I just purchased two 162 qt. Igloo Ultra Marine coolers from Costco for $129 each. They have the metal latches and hinges, not the plastic ones that break after 5 years, and the well formed deep lids that should not deform. I bought them for my daughters wedding over Labor Day weekend. They maintained ice for 4 days in 100° weather in Sedona. They were left in the sun, and were constantly being opened by family and guests. Plus, they will hold a deer, or an elk if it is cut up. Gotta love that.

My last Igloos lasted for about 12 years before the tops started to warp. If I get that out of these, it would take 70+ years to make up the difference of a pair of Yetis.

I really like the Yetis, but I cannot justify paying 5 times the cost of an Igloo to my wife (especially since I dropped about $5K on other hunting gear for my daughters upcoming elk hunt this year). This was the year for upgrades. Been wanting to do that for quite some time.

At that price I am with you! that is a great deal on a 162qt cooler... A little dry ice and I could make it work like a Yeti.

I just bought an Igloo cooler for my hunt down south. I put three bags of ice in it along with all my food. I left Friday morning and came back the following Wednesday night and on Thursday when I unpacked everything still had about 1 bag of ice left. I will take that all day long. Just have a hard time forking out the high dollars for the big name coolers. My last Coleman cooler had the lid warp after about a year and was worthless. It still looked good though.

I need a good small cooler for day trips what one do you prefer and why.thanks

You guys are missing what he said.

Not looking for a weeklong cooler he wants a cooler for daytrips.

I see no reason why he needs a $300+ cooler when a $30-50 cooler will work just fine for day trips.

Spend $45 on a coleman extreme!

I myself purchased the Yukon (by igloo) for my 10 day cooler. AS long as you precool the ice chest it works amazing! very impressed with it I got the 70qt because that is the size I use all the time. My big 110 igloo (replacement latches hinges) only gets used on long trips 1 or 2x a year so I could not justify that purchase.
